I will be out of town from the 20th through the 26th with limited internet access. How many rounds will the draft be? Who should I send a list to?

There will be 10 rounds.
You can send a list to me, but we'll try to get as many rounds done before then as possible.
We may want to appoint a proxy for you after you are gone. Anyone interested?

What's keeping Cellar? I checked back a few times throughout the night since watching the playoffs and he still hasn't made a decision.
It is a toughie at this point. There's a lot of great players to be had who are all around the same talent level.

Questions -- trades allowed after draft? When do we start?
I am at francisdave@hotmail.com for IM (that account won't accept emails)
Or, I can be reached through the now working PM system
Oh, and I think it levels out pretty clearly. There is a clear 1st pick, 3 guys who are the next level, another 3 who should be soon after that, and a reasonably clear 3 more before it gets muddy at the #11 spot. I do hope someone disagrees with me and my top 7 aren't gone when I pick 8th.

No trades.
I won't mention names, but there are those in this game with the power to destroy it with trades.

How heavily should playoff performance be considered?

Re: Build a Team 1995 Discussion Thread
For everyone but Hakeem, heavily; for him, not at all
Seriously, that's a question everyone has to answer for themselves when they vote. Small sample size creates a lot more distortions but if a player has a long history of raising/lowering their game in the playoffs, you should take it into account is how I would see it.

Sam Bone's pick was made 1 hour ago. 5 more hours to go before bryant08 can pick and nba_addict assumes the last draft position. I do rather hope it doesn't come to that.

Re: Build a Team 1995 Discussion Thread
You said everyone was assumed to be fully healthy. so, if (say) Bill Walton was playing and just qualified with 20mpg for 50 games, we can assume he was able to play 36 mpg over a 82 game schedule? Or, more to the point, 38-40 mpg over the course of the playoffs with no discount for his long and continuous history of injuries?

Re: Build a Team 1995 Discussion Thread
^Heh, that fully healthy thing was when the minimum was 60 games. Now that its 50 I will need to re-evaluate that.
I saw that there were a lot more interesting players that fell under the 60 game limit than I had originally imagined, so I lowered it, but its not really fair to assume all of those players are healthy as well.
I hate changing criteria after things have started, but at least I got it before anyone chose a player with well documented injury issues.
BTW, if you have any reason to believe you aren't going to be around when you pick, my email is artiethestrongest@gmail.com.
Please send in a list if you think you might not be around.

Re: Build a Team 1995 Discussion Thread
I might suggest that the minutes a player played per game during a season be included in our analysis (and if he was hobbling and less effective, that should be included too) but not the amount of games if over 50 (ie. season ending injuries didn't happen) . . . the other way would be to say anyone in the NBA is capable of playing full time but judges can decide for themselves if the stats scale up for people who didn't actually play those minutes but the first way would be easier.
Either was, Bill Walton in 1980s wouldn't be a 40mpg player.

Thats fine. I'm all for letting folks decide how they want to judge.
I wish we could get a move on though, the end of the 1st round/early second is supposed to be the fastest part.

Re: Build a Team 1995 Discussion Thread
Im looking at a guy right now that had a season ending injury at game 54. He was healthy but went down. He avged 70games a yr before this. The nagging injury stuff I understand but the freak accident blown knee stuff shouldnt hurt you that much.
What about a set reduction for players in the 50-60 game range maybe a 10% penalty??? Or a max mpg he can play. Something like no player who played between 50-60 games can play more than 24mpg. With the depth here thats not a huge penalty yet gives +60 game players a bonus

Re: Build a Team 1995 Discussion Thread
Eh, I'm fine with people playing them whatever they want, so long as games played and actual minutes per game is included in the writeup.
Players can get the chance to defend their own minute distributions, and opponents get their opportunity to attack them, too.
