the west has two GREAT 1st round matchups with the nuggets/jazz and mavs/spurs. those should be great. didn't imagine the nuggets could be a potential 2nd round opponent and not a WCF matchup.

in the east there's some snoozers. hawks/bucks doesn't get any more irrelevant, cavs will run have 4 blowouts, magic might struggle with the bobcats. celtics vs. wade should be fun, and a potential cavs vs. celtics matchup in the 2nd round could be interesting.

i don't see any upsets in the east, and don't predict any in the west either.

lakers favored playoff seedings

Post#3 » by TruSkool » Thu Apr 15, 2010 5:57 am

so this is how the tale goes--

lakers vs thunder

mavs vs spurs

jazz vs nuggets

suns vs blazers

....as far as im concerned, i think this is the best possible seeding the lakers could have hoped for...
and here are my reasons--

1. the mavs and spurs (imo) are big competitors to the lakers....so obviously, in round 1, one of these teams will be eliminated..and most likely the spurs

2. jazz and nuggets will duel out a matchup...la has faced both of these teams in the playoffs the last 2 years, and both have probably the best home court playoff atmosphere...one getting rid of the other will help the lakers tremendously

3. suns and blazers...this is the darkhorse matchup...especially the suns, they can 'upset' pretty much any team in the western conference the way they have been playing...and the blazers are a whole different story for la.

so i think the way these matchups are set, the lakers are heavily favored for an easy trip to the finals because lets face it, round one SHOULD be a cakewalk (although with the lakers, its always wise to not get ahead of urselves since this team can be pretty lazy and uncaring at times)

on the other hand, most of these 1st round matchups are like conference finals matchups...all the teams even out pretty well, except for the lakers-thunder in which the series is heavily favored in our direction..otherwise the other 3 matchups are pretty much a tossup

so cheers to an exciting playoff run and a hopeful back2back...

The WILD WILD WEST!!! OMG!!! WOULD YOU LOOK AT THESE GAMES!!

The east not so much... Okay the 4-5 match ups look cool.

I can't wait for LeBron and Noah to get into it. Lots of techs in this game series.

I want DWade to gaurd Rondo and shut his fake passin' arse down!

When is Boozer coming back? That's a big variable...

PHX/LAL WCF, LAL Advance. Portland's going to get swept. As soon as that happens every non LAL fan will be rooting for the Suns like they are world beaters.

East I'll be rooting for anyone to beat the Cavs.

Will you guys be rooting for Boston to beat the Cavs? I sure will. Go C's! lol.

If Dallas gets by SA, they'll torch the Suns... If SA somehow wins, Phoenix will run by them.

My guess... Dallas/LAL in WCF... By then we should win it in 6.

With Boozer and AK potentially out, I think Denver wins that series. They don't seem to be the same team that torched us early in the year so provided we get by OKC, I think we win that one in 6 too.

Et tu DEEP. We're one trick ponies now? I find that funny considering that most people feel that one of our major strengths is our versatility. But if you truly feel that way, that's fine.

I tell you what though, after those young boys run ya'll for six games in the First Round, that second round is going to be a BITCH. If ya'll make it past that round, the Mavs will be right there waiting on you. If you don't believe me, look at the Spurs and Suns records against us the last 2-3 years. The Mavs have been all up in that a$$. Hopefully, we will see you then.

I'm not so sure if I'd put the Spurs over Dallas so easily. Seems San Antonio has adjustments there to make with the guard situation involving Parker and Hill, and I'm not exactly sold that Parker will come in and play at the level needed that his team probably will need of him. This one might be a toss up.

Huh, I apologize in advance to the mods if this a slightly off topic but, I couldn't help but share this with you guys. Take a peep over at the Wizards board. It appears they've all finally lost it.

The calls Shaq and Bron got in the first half were beyond freaking ridiculous. Derrick Rose got hammered constantly and got no love from the zebras.

Lol, Deep. They lost a coin flip for the 4th slot in the draft. Breaking point. Priceless.

No surprise. Jame's has had a halo above his freakishly distorted head since his high school days at wherever the hell he went. David Stern would condemn the referees to hell if word got out that the little angel's done wrong.

Hmm. Seems as if they are allowing Jennings to go crazy here. He's got 20 at halftime but, Atlanta at the moment is handing Milwaukee their asses.
