I say we let President Obama make the pick. After all, he did tell the Maloofs to pick Evans, waaaaay before any of us even had him on our radar.

It's Kristen Bell. I don't know what show or movie. I just came across it and liked it....

GT fan here to say that Favors is far from small and skinny like a couple of posters have said on this subject. He will surprise plenty with his broad/wide shoulders and size. Favors size comparison to Amare but maybe a bit taller.

If we pick 3, i'd say Favors definetly. And again, I'm not sold on Cousins & would e shocked if GP picked him.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Yeah and he's still only 18. As I've been saying he's not afraid of contact either, he plays like a brute in every sense of the word.

Favors! Favors! Favors!!!!

i think cousins is a great pick but his character issues is a major turn off, kinda like your girl smackin while she chews at dinner.. add on top of that ask yourself why is it cousins is so large and is known for defense but yet he isnt a great shot blocker? he should atleast be decent being in college? i think that says something about his game that wont translate so well to the big boys league where if guys arent afraid of you and know your just a big body that cant react and block a shot they will attack you. so where would that leave cousins going back to where i started with character issues when cousins cant handle adversity i see it blowing up in our faces,

favors leaping ability, age, athletisism, size outweights cousins big body, bad attitude. play favors at 4 or 5. if his size is too small for 5 imo he will be a great 4

ICMTM wrote:If Evan Turner is around at three I'd take him :) Seriously if we don't get Evan Turner I think trading the pick sounds like a good option. I don't feel that either option is going to be a franchise guy. I think we are in the position to need another franchise player.

If Turner is available there is no good reason to pass him up. He'll go a long way in consolidating talent since he can play 1, 2, and 3. You can start Udrih-Evans-Turner and always leave either Udrih or Turner on the floor. Turner is not Evans. I mean, sure, Turner is great on drives, doesn't have NBA 3-point range, and his court vision isn't that much better than Evans'. However, Turner is solid on spot-up, pull-up, and off-screen, plus he is much better at creating easy shots for bigs on his drives (i.e., drawing defense down low out of position for bigs instead of attacking the basket head-on).

More importantly, though, having both Turner and Evans creates matchup problems for the opposing team. It will take the same kind of strong perimeter defender to shut down Turner that it takes to shut down Evans: Quick smart guys with the length to bother shots without leaving their feet. Most contending teams will probably have one Posey-type perimeter defender, but few have two. The final Houston game was a good example: Evans was a major mismatch for Brooks and Martin in the first half; in the second half they had Lowry guarding a wing and Ariza guarding Evans and Evans couldn't do ****.

I don't see how Petrie can pass on Turner if Turner is available.

If the Kings pick #3 and both Wall and Turner are gone, then I think Wesley Johnson will be the best pick. Defensive bigs with fairly basic offense are easier to come by through other means. Besides, with Evans handling the ball, those kind of bigs will be significant liabilities on offense. Johnson is an excellent complimentary offensive player who is a substantial defensive upgrade at the wings. Any time you can make a substantial upgrade on defense without sacrificing offense, it is hard to pass up. You grab Johnson then try to address the defensive problem down low through FA and trades.

Beyond Wall/Turner/Johnson, I would pick the most (over)valued prospect (Cousins, Favors, etc.) available then trade down for a defensive big and let somebody else take the gamble.

I would be fine with Drafting Either Favors or Cousins my vote is currently for Cousins but I could understand either pick. The team that results is completely different based on which guy we pick. Cousins is more of a center and more offensively focused and takes up more space in the post meaning that 3pt shooting is even more important and that the kings still need to find a good reserve shot blocker. If we pick Favors he is more of a PF and is more athletic and is much more atheletic, basically an amare type player with good defense. the team that results around him has much more fluidity because we can move him to center or PF at any time and wouldn't lose any Defense in the starting lineup we can afford to let Hawes play at the 3pt line.

Either way I think we will be happy but Cousins simply looks more dominant.
