TNA Lockdown

Post#1 » by CapeCrusader » Sun Apr 18, 2010 9:18 pm

I know we never make these PPV threads, but it gives us something to talk about. Plus we alway do this on the MMA board for UFC events so i figured we could try to do that here as well.

Here's what I wrote in the TNA thread:

Here's the card and my picks for lockdown tonight:

MCMG vs Brian Kendrick and Homicide: I don't know if this match will be televised or not. I also don't know if the guns are permanent tweeners or if they are constantly being shifted between heel and face. Maybe that's a distinction without a difference. Know analysis of the match because there was no build-up to this match. Should be a good match though.
Picks: MCMG

Knockouts Championship Cage match Angelina Love and Tara vs The Beautiful People: I have no idea how this match will transpire. I'll go with Lova and Tara
Picks: Tara and Love

Scott Hall and Waltman vs Team 3D: Who cares? Both of these teams should be used to help put over young tag teams.
Pick: 3D

Kevin Nash vs EY: This is how these old-timers should be used. This match will probably be a disaster but EY should be put over.
Winner: EY

X-Division title match Shannon Moore vs Kazarian vs Doug Williams: I'm not a fan of Williams at all. Although he did get some great heel heat with a promo he cut a couple weeks ago. I'll go with Moore to win this one though
Winner: Shannon Moore

RVD vs James Storm: Does anyone quite understand the point of this match? This just seems like another one of those weird TNA stipulations that makes no sense. I'll go with Storm just because it'll continue with the on-going storyline.
Winner: James Storm

Team Hogan vs Team Flair: I assume this is an elimination match, I have no idea though. The way I'd like to see this booked is for Sting to win the match and then turn on Flair and have Sting booked as this tweener psychopath who wants to beat up everybody. That's not gonna happen though, I assume Team Hogan will win and Abyss will be the last man standing since he's getting the mega-push.
Winner: Team Hogan

Kurt Angle vs Mr. Anderson: This will of course be the match of the night because it has Angle. It was recently revealed that Kurt's gonna take a short-term absence after the PPV to heal some nagging injuries. This probably means that Mr. Anderson wins the match which is what should've happened anyway.
Winner: Anderson

D'Angelo Dineiro vs AJ Styles: I really think Pope should win this match. Even if its just a short term reign, TNA has failed to go all the way with so many guys and I really feel like Pope is the kind of guy who's got the total package. Unfortunately I think Pope will join the list of Christopher Daniels, Kaz, Matt Morgan and numerous others guys TNA pushed but didn't go all the way with.
Winner: AJ Styles

Predictions

Styles over Pope - Hope for the Pope's sake its not clean
Team Hogan over Team Flair
Anderson over Angle - But it could go either way
Nash over Young - See the band getting involved, plus I don't see Young ready to go to the next level
Kaz over Moore and Williams - With the push of Kaz, it would only make sense
Team 3D over Hall and Pac
Beautiful People over Love and Tara - It'll further push a feud between Love and Tara
Storm over RVD - They'll get the advantage but loose the big team match
MCMG over Kendrick and Homicide

Anderson-Angle alone makes this a watchable PPV.

Hopefully I can get a decent stream that my computers wants to play.

Overall it was a good PPV, although IMO booked incorrectly in a couple of instances, and I expected this from TNA. Of the 27 people who wrestled on the show only 5-6 of them aren't really strong performers, a much higher rate than you'd expect out of a WWE PPV, and most of those guys were in one match. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out which match I'm talking about.

The one thing TNA does suffer from is some overly convoluted finishes. The conclusion of Team Flair-Hogan was pretty bad but it was light years better than some of the past finishes. I can happily say that I was not scratching my head asking myself WTF just happened.

Anybody know why Pac didn't show? and I thought the MCMG match was a tag match? it was a pointless match they way they had it set up

^^^ He was probably in a gutter somewhere high out of his mind. As far as the MCMG match, Doug Williams couldn't make it to the PPV because of the volcano so they stripped him of the title. They could've had Kaz vs Moore in a straight up one-on-one match for the title, but I don't really mind it too much this way as atleast there was a heel in the match.
