Re: SoTD: Bargnani's defensive breakdown
30 teams. 5 starters
5 x 30 = 150
Noah and Varejo at +150th is defensively seems wrong. Seeing Noah can defend Bosh very well, and remembered Noah blocking one of his last second shot.

Re: SoTD: Bargnani's defensive breakdown
His ranking is pretty much where I would put him in the Eastern as far as defense is concerned. Obviously he has some problems, but like you pointed out he has excellent post up defense. This shows in the games where he played against Duncan this year and other post up players.
How many active players are there in the NBA right now?

Great stats SS!
Really, it's shows where he is at man to man. Middle pack but improving. AS the coaching and management noted, his off ball weak D needs improving.

Thanks for the stats SS
Who knew Hibbert was worse off than Bargnani and Jermaine O'Neal at 62..gah..maybe we can sign him for a cheap contract

I am more interested in Weems, and wonder if he can be a lock down in the future.
Yeah how about some positivity? Is Weems any good. Did DeMar get better or worse over the course of the season? Was Antoine Wright any good, since I was hoping DeMar could take his place on D?
In time. I'm going to be writing some material over the summer, so it'll give me some ammo for the other players. Just wanted to get Bargs out of the way, since that's the first player I checked out after I signed on.
That would be awesome, thanks SS.

Re: SoTD: Bargnani's defensive breakdown
Thanks sub, I'll be looking forward to your posts from Synergy's site this summer.
Just a question though. The PPP, anjd fg% seem odd to me. The understanding I have is that points per possesion would mean that over 100 possesion Bargs's man would get 92 points/100. So a DRTG of 92. Also if someone told me that a big man was holding opposing big men to .427fg% I would think that was great, not one of the worst in the league. What am I missing here?

This sounds awesome. I'd be inclined to pay up and get it as well. What's the cost?

Also, don't forget that the ranking don't take into account small sample sizes. For example, Michael Finley is ranked despite playing only around 300 minutes for Boston. So, that could skew the rankings...

I didn't expect Bargnani would be high up, his man D is overrated here and his help D is brutal. People will praise him for the three stops he'll get on Duncan, but they'll forget that he then relents and gives up three scores. He doesn't have the tenacity to defend the post.
Actually, on pure post-ups, he's pretty good. His PPP is only 0.80, which ranks him 85th among all NBA players.
Actually, my friend has synergy sports too, and Bargnani's PPP is 1, which ranks him 81st in the league.
His Post-up PPP is .92, which is 51st in the league.

Re: SoTD: Bargnani's defensive breakdown
Okay so intead of making a new topic, I'll just post this thought here.
Yesterday on the FAN590, Jack said how Brandon Roy refused to come and workout here. Now I may be living under a rock because that's the first time I heard that
So really, did BC make that big of a mistake drafting Andrea? Roy didn't want to be here. LMA wouldn't have made any sense since we had Bosh and I don't think we'd be any better off with Tyrus Thomas right now.

Sandy Gold: "Have you ever waxed?"
Andrea Bargnani: "Uhh remove hair? No, no, no. For what? No, no, no, never. I don't have alot of hair, no. I don't have like hair on the shoulders so I'm cool."

We probably underestimate NBA coaches just a little.
Heh, that's not the number of attempts, it's their overall ranking.

**** your asterisk.

Arn't 3ptr's and ft's wrapped up into points per possesion?

Thanks, I was just coming back to edit that. I think I should just change my signature to read "PS: I am (Please Use More Appropriate Word)".

Ah, yes. Sorry, misunderstood what you asked.
To answer the initial question, it doesn't account for help defence.

Re: SoTD: Bargnani's defensive breakdown
Bargnani fans are so adamant and so committed to their cause...that I started believing Bargnani was an average to decent man to man defender.
Still, his help D is so brutal and his defensive rebounding is minimal..that i always thought his overall D was bad.
But this shows the TRUTH!
Howard, Shaq, Horford, J'Oneal, Noah, Perkins, Chandler, Bogut (injured).. All these guys are centres on teams in this year's playoffs... What do they have in common for the most part?????? mmmmmm....

Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!
