Beating the Utah Jazz in the first round

Post#1 » by eathy » Thu Apr 15, 2010 5:19 am

So what needs to happen?

Home court advantage helps a lot... it's a good thing we went 3-1 against the Jazz this season.

Looking at the matchups there's lots to like:

AK and Boozer are under injury clouds.

We matchup well on them... they have no players to stop Melo, Nene, or Lawson. Afflalo has done a great job on Deron Williams this season.

Billups needs to get out of his slump... please start playing like a PG again... stop with this chucking SG "Mr. Big Shot" stuff.

REBOUND THE BALL. Be physical on defense, attack the basket, don't fall in love with jumpers.

It should be a good series... we might struggle to get some FTs without Karl, but GO NUGGETS!!

For as sour as things went this last month of the season, you couldn't really ask for a much better situation to be in after all of that. I like this matchup a lot. Playing in Utah in the playoffs scares me a little bit, but as long as we take care of home it shouldn't matter too much.

Absolutely. Given the way we've been playing, this is an awesome situation. I've been wanting to play Utah for years. We might not be in our best shape, but I will still enjoy this competitive showdown.

If Denver loses, I expect a whole different team out there next season.

NBA Playoffs, baby. Win or go.... just go.

I didn't freak out when we lost to SA and PHX.....both have it all the way turnt up right now. 53 wins among 8 playoff teams with 50 wins or more is an accomplishment to be proud of.

and btw..........2010 NW Division Champs.

Right!

Man DAL will be tested down to their core if they are meant to come out! It is gonna be real interesting.

We are actually a playoff squad! UTAH will be tough at their home no doubt, but we match up better against UTAH & LAL than PHX and DAL!!!

REST UP GOOD! Real battles are ahead.

Lakers
Thunder

Nuggets
Jazz

---

Mavs
Spurs

Suns
Blazers

I'm overjoyed... the three teams I fear: Mavs, Spurs, Suns (possibly more than Lakers) are on the other side of "bracket"...

We only need to worry about Lakers in our own bracket... we'll have to go through them anyway be it 2nd round or WCF. BRING IT ON!!!! 8-)

Really hope Ty gets some good minutes in this series. He has the speed and strength to bother D-Will. Deron will get his but just keeping him under control is essential.

So glad we have homecourt and out of all the teams the blazers and jazz were the 2 i wanted us to face in the first round. The suns are tearing it up right now, and we matchup so poorly against them i am glad we don't have to face them. Honestly i would rather face the Lakers than the Suns.

If our team can play intense defense like what AA has been demonstrating lately, I see Nugz in 6!

GO NUGGETS !!!!! NW CHAMPS  :onfire:

Nugz in 5; Lakers in 5. Karl back for the second round. Carmelo and Chauncey remember how to pass. Nene grows a pair. AC resumes his duties as most valuable seat warmer, allowing Lawson to get his minutes back. JR finally understands the concept of shot selection. K-Mart understands that while he's a beast, stepping one foot inside of the 3-point line still isn't in his range. Petro gets Malik Allen's questionable minutes. AA just keeps doing what he's doing. Can you feel it?

Nugs owe Phx a big thank you. Jazz have no shot. We may have looked bad in Phx on Tuesday but the Jazz looked even worse at home last night in a must win game. We are one of the healthiest teams going into the playoffs. I really see George coming back for a 2nd round match up against the Lakers as a story book scenario that may get us into the WCF. Just make sure we don't look past Utah but it shouldn't be too hard cuz half their players are clinically obese. The d in d-will stands for doughnut.

thank you to phoenix for winning last night. i like this matchup better than some others.

and its a good thing matt harpring retired. or melo would get a bunch of technicals and offensive fouls and throw himself off his game.

this series really shouldn't be a problem.

Anyone heard anything on K Mart?

I think guys will rest up good using these off days and come in with total focus into the playoff. If there was one thing that we all have noticed throughout the regular season even though they were not able to bring it every game is we are capable to beat anybody if WE REALLY INTO IT!

Speedy recovery to GK. We need to have a strong start at first 2 home games!

The only way Denver can beat Utah now is to get GK back on the bench. Maybe not coaching, but just sitting there could get the officials to drop this BS crap they have been pulling on AD.
