Wouldn't it bring back some interest to the team? Maybe some older fans will give the team another chance?

No, uniforms don't change perception or attendance. Winning does.

and is it only popular because it's no longer our logo?

I agree it's the best one but the organization must of had a very good reason to change it.

The '97 change was during the worst period in the team's history. It was simply a money/attention grabber to get the fans thinking about them again. I remember they even had a promotion where they accepted fan submissions. Being in grade 7 at the time, I got out my colored pencils and drew a hideous looking bird with a colorful cityscape in the background, which I'm sure they have framed somewhere as a joke.

'97 and '98 weren't that bad, man. Clemens had some of the greatest seasons in pitching history, and the Jays nearly made the playoffs in 1998. The two years after that, though.... :o

Unis were changed after the 96 season, which was awful, and 97 was awful too, Roger Clemens or not. Carlos Garcia, Ed Sprague, slap-hitting 80 year old Otis Nixon, the Olerud trade...**** those were some awful teams. I'm wondering why I even watched those seasons.

Hentgen won the Cy in 1996.

Speaking of popularity, does anyone care for the Jays black jersey? I can't stand when they play in those jerseys, especially when they're away and NOT representing Toronto across the jersey!

And as far as I'm concerned there shouldn't be any black in the jays logo/uniform/hat

That was nice, but Cito had him throw 260 IP each of the two years and then was never the same again.

at least the original logo lasted almost 20 years.. it seems like teams go through logos every 5 years or so.

Bringing back the original logo would definitely be a positive step. I dont know much excitement it would "bring back" but it would surely be exciting for already true fans.

The Jays actually need to move away from talking over and over about 92/93. The more they talk about it, the more it's in people's minds that it's been so darn long since they've won.

I saw a guy on the subway wearing a hat that was a really dark blue, and had the classic logo with the baseball in black instead of red. That was the best Jays hat I've seen, and wish they would switch to that one.

In fact, I kind of like the classic darker blue jerseys more than the powder blues.
