I'm not high on Gordon, his value has plummetted, he's wildly inconsistent, contract is pretty bad, and he wouldn't exactly alleviate our defensive woes. I would not overpay by giving up Derozan for him, it would have to be Turk for Gordon straight up (likely not happening), or maybe us taking back some crap salary, or throwing in Belinelli or Weems or smth.

Philly also gets $5 immediate cap space (while also filling the roster and avoiding tax) - and the next 2 years they will save $45-$50 million... This gives them a fresh start, while keeping some good young pieces to build around (holiday, young, speights, #6...)

if im them though id rather have Henry who fits perfectly beside Jrue than dump Brand for Calderon which is a 7 million annual difference. Not worth it to me. People forget Iggy himself has a huge price tag. He has 55.6 million remaining on his deal. So if they can get a cheaper option (Henry) whos also younger and helps the rebuild i think theyd rather do that. Also with Amir, its unlikely we sign him if we get Brand and heres why. Hes going to a) be looking for playing time, hes a unrestricted FA, b) money so 4-5 million range. Thats 20/21 million committed to our BACKUP PF/C rotation. Way to much money. Heres some deals i see happening.

my 3 ideas:

1) Banks + Evans + #13 (Henry) + Cash for Iguodala

- creates 2.5 million TE, saves them that much
- saves them 12 million in 2011
- better fit beside jrue
- avoid Iggys 13 million with the new CBA

* Could add Belinelli if they wanted

2) Banks + Evans + #13 (Henry) + Belinelli + Dorsey (unguaranteed) for Iguodala + Green

- avoid tax this year. Save 4 million doing so

3) To TOR: Iguodala
To PHI: #28 (Pondexter) + #13 (Henry) + Evans + Banks
To MEM: Cash Considerations (TOR) + PHI 2011 2nd Round Pick

basically Memphis sells the pick which is likely what they do because they have a ton. So that could work.

Holiday/Williams/Banks
Henry/Green/Meeks
Young/Pondexter/Kapono
Davis/Brand/Evans
Dalembert/Speights/Smith

i think #3 works the best for everyone.

My Off-Season would conclude with:
- Sign Chucky Atkins/other veteran PG (minimum)
- Sign Josh Powell: Good friends with CB (1.5 million)
- Sign Jamal Magloire or other C (minimum)
- Resign Amir Johnson (4.5 million, x amount of years) & Chris Bosh (full max, 6 years)

Jack/Calderon/Atkins
Iguodala/Derozan/Belinelli
Turkaglu/Weems
Bosh/Johnson/Dorsey
Bargnani/Powell/Magloire

that team is very solid. Maybe you turn around and move Calderon + Belinelli for Baron Davis but id keep Calderon and hope for his value to increase.

I don't think what amounts to basically this years' team + Iggy is enough. It would be a step in the right direction, but I think we need more than that to fix our problems. Regardless of if Bosh stays or not, we need better rebounding and help D at the 5, and our PG situation (especially defensively) needs to improve. I just don't see Atkins, Magloire, and Powell effectively addressing those needs. Otherwise our interior and perimeter D will continue to suck, and we'll just end up marginally better than we are now, only now with Iggy's contract as well.

Calderon, Evans, Banks, Beli, Wright (S &T @ $2mil)

for

Iggy and Brand

I don't think a young players/picks/prospects are necessary in this trade because of the HUGE amount of cap relief we give them on the monster 'immovable' contract of Elton Brand

leaves us with:

Jack
Iggy/Weems
Hedo/DeRozan
Bosh/Amir
Bargs/Brand

plus our #13 pick, and our MLE (if that doesn't go to Amir??), finished off with min contracts...

I suggested something similar but it was Amir being S&T instead of Wright

Amir has value and while Raps are taking on the contract of Brand they are also moving Jose's not including the pick and not moving DD. Also with Bosh, Brand and Bargs, Amir deserves mins and should be moved.

I actually don't mind Brand either as while the offense obviously isn't the big problem Raps did need a low post scorer. Use the 13th on one of the C prospects, sign a FA pg like Felton, Watson, Arroyo or Duhon and I like that lineup a lot.

A nice simple one is...

to send Jose and Evans and i guess our 13th pick to Utah for Karilenko and Milsap

Have you seen what Millsap and Kirilenko make? We would have 4 players making over $50 mil/year if this is done, with zero stars.

I wouldn't mind looking at a deal with OKC.

Something like this would be amazing, but most likely impossible:

Sign+trade Bosh + Banks for Green + Ibaka + Maynor
then:
Jose + Reggie + 1st for Hamilton

JACK / Maynor
HAMILTON / DeRozan / Belinelli
TURKOGLU / Weems
GREEN / Johnson / Dorsey
BARGNANI / Ibaka / Magloire

In all honesty though, if Bosh leaves, I'd rather us keep our pick and not take on any big contracts (like Hamilton).

Although that would be a great return for Bosh, that team would still be horrible defensively. Well, the starting line-up, at least.

It couldn't be worse than what we had this past season, could it?

Jack > Calderon
Hamilton > DeRozan
Green = Bosh

on defense, no?

We could always start with this instead:

Jack
Hamilton
Turkoglu
Bargnani
Ibaka

I think Rip Hamilton is done. Could be a scorer off the bench for a contender, like Mitch Richmond was in LA, but that's about it.

Ibaka - I love. Jeff Green looks out of position at the 4 and he's not a good rebounder. His future will probably be at the 3. I would happily watch Jack, DeRozan, Green, Ibaka, and Bargnani play next year.

Ok here we go...

Bosh, Evans (they're not taking Turk) S&T for Lee, Gallo, Curry

Lee, Belli traded to Nets for Harris, 27th pick (if Nets get Wall)

Raptors draft Xavier Henry (13th) Orton/Sanders/A BIG (27th)

We trade Calderon for Nocioni.

Harris/Jack/Banks
X. Henry/DeRozan/Weems
Turk/Gallo/S. Weems/Nocioni
Bargnani/Amir/Nocioni/Gallo
Curry/Amir/27th pick

We would still need to grab a big prob with the MLE.

another thing to mention about Iguodala. take a look at other past star wings. Had less than 56,500,000 left on their deals too.

- Vince Carter: Ryan Anderson + Vince Carter for Courtney Lee + Expiring

putting up 21,5 and 5

had to include Anderson who was a former 1st round pick

- Jason Richardson: 20,6 and 4 and at the age of 27 at the time.

Raja Bell + Boris Diaw + 2nd round pick for Jason Richardson + Jared Dudley

- Richard Jefferson; At the time had a good season, was considered the missing piece for the spurs and traded for:

Bruce Bowen + Oberto + Kurt Thomas

- Stephan Jackson: 20, 5 and 5

expiring contracts but DID ask for a trade

- Jamal Crawford: 18 and 3

expiring contracts

- Caron Butler + Deshawn Stevenson + Brendan Haywood

expiring contracts

so you look at that and say why include Derozan? Jason Richardson who was a) having a better season, b) had a better career and better following only a year older. Thats why i think you can do a deal of

Reggie Evans + Marcus Banks + Marco Belinelli + #13 (Henry) for Andre Iguodala + Jason Smith (if they wanted to add him to save more money)

thats a lot like the Carter deal and Richardson deal. So if im going off previous market value thats right on par.

BTW in Orlando Courtney Lee was putting up Marco Belinellis stats. So i do think a deal like that will happen.

Jack/Calderon/Atkins (minimum)
Iguodala/Derozan/Brown (signed)
Turkaglu/Weems
Bosh/Johnson/Dorsey
Bargnani/Powell/Smith

Something very realistic that we can do this summer is acquire Marcin Gortat.

One possible trade is Gortat & Pietrus for Hedo & Bellinelli.

Hedo takes over Pietrus spot, Bass takes Gortat's minutes, Bellinelli might work out.

That's a pretty biased offer though, and considering that the Magic didn't even give an offer to Hedo, I'll propose another trade :) .

Evans for Gortat, maybe even Evans & Banks for Gortat. We give up 2 expirings though so I dont know.

But basicly, get Gortat to Toronto, and whoever thinks we shouldn't because he's a Euro can GTFO. the guy has a very high rebounding rate, especially his offensive rebounding. I think he's a perfect complement to Bargnani. He's no superstar but he's got some skill in the lowpost to keep defences at least alert of his presence, but what I like most is the fact that he plays his role, plays great defence and rebounds.

If that first trade I proposed went down, Belli & Hedo for Pietrus & Gortat, I would be one of the happiest raptor fans around. We'd get rid of Hedo's terrible contract, & replace him with a guy I love in Pietrus. Pietrus is an excellent defendor and has a knack for making big shots in the 4th quarter. For this to happen I think Orlando would have to do poorly in the playoffs however, so hopefully 2nd round exit for them :).

AK is one of the league's most overpaid player...BUT...he's gone in a year..as is overpaid Reggie.
Calderon vs Millsap? for the Raps...a no brainer. Millsap rebounds and defends. Calderon has game on offense but his "Defense" is legendary.....like a famous shipwreck. The Raps have to do that deal.

DeRozan + Weems for O.J. Mayo

Sign trade Bosh + Turkoglu for Chandler+ Curry (expiring)

Set us up at the wings for years with 2 potential all-stars

SG O.J. Mayo
SF Wilson Chandler

Thanx Old Rem :

this is wat i was looking at Jose in Utah's system will mask is defensive shot comings with Boozer/Okur and the scheme they run and will help in cooling down Williams minutes and Jose should flourish under Coach Sloan. As for Reggie/Kirilenko well injuries even these guys out plus give Utah a big to use a bit like Kirilenko throughout the year as a band-aid as we will end up the same way hoping and praying with Kirilenko's injuries..

The Nets trade Harris for Jack and Belinelli? Really?

Return to Toronto Raptors
