Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread

Post#1 » by ChronicKerr » Thu Apr 22, 2010 6:24 pm

I know, this draft is the least exciting since I can remember due to not picking until the 75th pick but I felt the need to create a thread where draft talk can occur.

Bears Draft Picks:

3 #11 (75)
4 #11 (109)
5 #10 (141)
6 #12 (181)
7 #11 (218)

There should be a number of safeties available for us at 75 for 109:

Major Wright
Morgan Burnett
Larry Asante
TJ Ward
Chad Jones
Reshad Jones
Kam Chancellor
Myron Rolle

I fully expect us to end up with at least 1 of these guys in round 3 or 4.

It would be pretty sweet if Benn fell to 75 but it won't happen. Anyways, 5 hours til draft time.

No way Morgan Burnett is still there, but there is talk of trading into the late first or second...

According to McShay's final 7 round mock published yesterday, Burnett will be there and some (going pick 103).

From Icness:
Chicago is poised to make a big jump to get Linval Joseph tomorrow night

:o

Is Gilbert going to be playing end this year with Melton and Anderson? I thought we had some depth inside already but adding a solid DT is never a bad thing. I just don't see what type of ammunition we have that would be worth giving up to move up to get a DT when we have more pressing needs. At least there's action early..

Would hate to see us package picks to move up for a DT considering it's not one of our more pressing needs, but if we can secure a 2nd round pick with Olsen, then by all means.

We're a prime candidate to move up. When your GM and head coach are on the hot seat, they want quality that can get on the field ASAP, not quantity.

I asked Icness about Joseph and now he's saying Joseph will likely go in the first 10-15 picks, and the Bears won't have the ammo to move up. Of course, there has been a lot of talk about potential trades with Olsen and the LB's so it will be interesting. I'll definitely be watching until 7:15 when I need to leave.

I have very little interest in this draft.

There's a lot not to like about ESPN's coverage tonight.....

- Kiper still can't say "strength" correctly
- Gruden still making his faces and contributing nada
- Video clips showing the draftees doing stupid dances like American Idol contestants
- Disprespectful NY crowd booing draftees and HOF guest announcers. Who cares if they were drafted or played for a NY rival ?!? Show some class, you scum! Get the draft out of NY already!

NE drafted a TE early in Rd2 so forget the Olsen to Pats trade idea.

Joseph off the board already so kill that rumor (thankfully).

Looking forward to next year when I can get into the draft again. This sucks.

And I just can't stomach Berman anymore. The nicknames were cute back in the days of Bert "Be Home" Blyleven but his voice is just nails on a chalkboard for me now. Lose him, ESPN.

Bears draft Major Wright, Safety - Florida

I like the pick, because it fills a need. He also comes from the Gators so he's got to be smart. Hopefully he sticks as our starter.

Also, this keeps the Gator Chomp tradition going with the Bears since Alex Brown left.

Did anyone else notice the commissioner giving everybody in the crowd evil looks, basically during every time a new pick was announced.

Return to Chicago Bears
