Re: 1st Round Matchup: Bucks vs Hawks
Well, the Bucks fans have gone from fairly positive that they would steal game 2, to be fairly sure that if they don't win game 3 that they'll be swept. Josh and Al have broken a lot spirits over there.
I'm interested in whether our team has the killer instinct to push their advantages on the road with a hostile crowd or whether we relax. I expect the Bucks to play better at home but with the match ups and their missing players should enable the Hawks to win if they play hard and smart.

Josh Smith: “Everybody knows there ain’t nothing to do in Milwaukee”
Woody figures the Hawks will encounter a “hostile environment” at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center for Game 3 oN Saturday. It might be particularly unwelcoming for Josh Smith after he pulled a Joakim Noah.
A reporter mentioned that Milwaukee is different from Miami, the Hawks’ first-round destination last year (and lemme tell you, this is another reason Hawks management was happy to draw Milwaukee instead of Miami this time).
So what will Smoove do in Brew City?
“Maybe go to Ruth’s Chris or something,” he said. (Sorry, Smoove, but the nearest locations are in Madison, Wisc. and Northbrook, Ill.)
“There’s pretty much nothing to do,” Smith said. “Miami has some really good restaurants. I never really did anything in Milwaukee. I would be happy to just find a restaurant. I’m not bashing the city but I’ve never actually did anything in Milwaukee so I really don’t know what is around there.”
By now Hawks PR Man Arthur Triche, seeing where this was headed, had creeped in to try and break up the party. But, Smoove being Smoove (”I don’t care!”) he wasn’t stopping.
Someone picked up on the Noah thread and asked Smith if he’d be taking any vacations in Milwaukee.
“Would you go there?” Smith asked. “Everybody knows there ain’t nothing to do in Milwaukee, man. Everybody knows that, (even) the people that live there.”

That's such a crappy ass move on his part. You don't give a beaten up team something to rally around. I hope he brings it in Game 3 like he did in Game 2.

Re: 1st Round Matchup: Bucks vs Hawks
I think it was a unnecessary comment about Milwaukee, but asking a player about the city itself is bound to get a similar statement from someone on team. Especially if you have them compare it to Miami. I would have preferred a response more like this:
"I don't know what there is to do in Milwaukee. I don't really care. I'm not vacationing, I'm there to work. I'm sure I'll have a good meal or two, but I'm not there to party. I'm not there to sight see. I'm there to take care of business on the basketball court."
See you don't have to say nice things about a city and still answer the questions. A lot of cities have inferiority complexes and are just looking for something to be upset about (Cleveland). The team isn't there to evaluate the night life. They are going to be there for approximately 4 days to do work. Also even if they don't have Ruth's Chris, any major city has a few good restaurants where you can get a steak. Zaza played there years ago, I'm sure he can hook the team up with a good Milwaukee restaurant. Of course my answer might not make an article because I suspect the reporter was fishing for something inflammatory.

I never understood these type of comments. Milwaukee should already have maxed out their motivation due to the fact that they are in the postseason and in a virtual must-win situation. If they need a comment about their city to fire them up then they clearly aren't ready in the first place.

Re: 1st Round Matchup: Bucks vs Hawks
Are you serious?? They mostly got blown out in Atlanta and morale is low. You think they're still maxed out with motivation?
If nothing else, this would drive the Milwaukee fans to root even more against the Hawks.
The worst part of the interview is Smith shooing away the PR relations guy. Josh knew he was being set up for a trap and said, "Here you go. Here's what you were fishing for."

Criticizing the city that the players work in isn't going to do anything to change the players morale. You think they're going to be extra fired up because Smoove admitted that he was bored on his day off in Milwaukee?

Of course I'm serious. Milwaukee was down 2-0 with their backs against the wall in front of their home crowd. If you're telling me they weren't coming into that game with any motivation then I don't know what to tell you.

I'll be the first to call out the city of Atlanta. Who cares? I bet that nobody on the Bucks is from Milwaukee, so how is Smith's comment insulting? He didn't insult a single person, fan, or any team in any such way possible. He simply believes the city of Milwaukee is boring. What's the problem?

Very impressive and it's probably the best thing I have seen from an NBA mascot.

Might get the crowd fired up.

I have faith that the Milwaukee crowd would have been fired up regardless. The only difference is the specific boos whenever Josh touches the ball.

Not much difference between those and the boos he gets in Atlanta for shooting jumpers.

Those aren't boos. Those are thousands of people saying "Nooooooo!" at the same time. Very similar to a boo, but more sad than angry.

Those are definitely boos. I think it threw Smith off his game for sure.
Smith did find something to do in Milwaukee. He was at the local poker room several times in the last week. Seemed to be finding quite a bit to do irregardless of his in vogue comment to rip milwaukee.

Khris Middleton - Beating up on Trash Can Teams since 1943. Invisible Man status otherwise.
