Showcasing good flexibility off of the snap, Wilson does a nice job reading and reacting quickly to plays, getting his hands up in pass lanes and finding the football. He lacks ideal burst off of the edge and isn't the kind of threat to consistently reach the corner. However, he displays good short-area quickness as a pass rusher and does a nice job dropping his pad level, extending his arms and generating power from his lower half on the bull-rush. Wilson displays the power to overwhelm opposing tackles on contact and collapse the pocket. He's too much of a straight-line athlete, doesn't exhibit the body control to cleanly change directions on a counter-move and doesn't use his hands well to shed blocks off of the edge.

I know nothing about him, is he a 3/4 DE or a 3/4 OLB?

Can't complain about this one I guess. Productive player in a weak conference.

He's a 3-4 end solid rotation type of guy

Biography: Full-time starter the past three seasons besides starting seven games as a freshman. All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 57/10.5/5.5. Junior totals included 70/18.5/10.5 when he was initially awarded All-Conference honors.

Positives: Athletic college pass rusher who displays good speed off the edge. Possesses solid first step quickness, displays an array of pass rushing moves, and is fast up the field. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, keeps his feet moving on contact, and rarely off his feet. Fluid moving in every direction, plays with balance and good pad level. Has blocked kicks in the past.

Negatives: Undersized, lacks strength at the point and rather easily pushed from his angle of attack by single opponent. Can be engulfed at the point.

Analysis: Wilson is a solid pass-rush prospect with marginal size for the next level. He offers possibilities as a rotational player in a conventional four-man line, and he has special teams abilities that will help him secure a spot on an NFL roster.

Projection: 4-5

"Wilson should be able to give a team good depth with his natural strength, toughness and intangibles as a 4-3 defensive end"

Doubt he's an OLB unless he can afford to shed about 25 pounds.

Well i'm feeling better about Jolly's situation. Do we know if he is going to be suspended for those drug charges? We should have a lot of options on the d-line, especially if Harrell can stay healthy.

Drafted 2 guys for a position of little to no need. Not really happy about that.

In round seven you just have to hope you can draft a guy who makes the team. No matter what position.

I would say though this is a very unsexy draft.

Jenkins and Jolly are free agents after this season. It's doubtful they're back.

Same with Bigby (Morgan)
Same with Clifton and Tauscher (Bulaga and Newhouse)

I would say he did absolutely 0 in the way of improving our overall pass rush.

I guess i would agree somewhat. neal is a good rusher for a 3-4 end but no pure rusher was drafted. So I somewhat agree....

Mike Neal and CJ Wilson are the only plausible improvements, and I don't think that we will see any improvement from them.

- Scott Wright projected him as a mid rounder, so this would make him a bit of a steal in his eyes.
- Recorded 10.5 sacks and 18.5 TFL's to spearhead an outstanding EC defense in '08. Production dropped off in '09.
- Video (5 minute reel): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2w8HY1X8k4

Uses leverage well, has some moves and agility for his size, and reacts quickly to where the ball is.

watching that video, it's clear he's quick for his size and reacts very well, shifts gears and changes direction very well for a big guy. that one spin move he put on was rb-esque. granted these aren't the best football players in the world he's playing against, but he should be able to get after the qb without overrunning run plays. for pick #230 i like it alot.

He's big, but he looks like he could switch to a rush OLB IMO. I like this pick.

He's listed at like 285. That would be the world's biggest rush OLB ever.
