Leon officially signed his tender.

In response to Rich's Marshall comment, I personally think the extension was somewhat fair for a guy like Marshall, and I agree that is what stopped Tannenbaum.

Also, Cro doesn't even need to worry about Ginn, he was traded to San Francisco for a late pick.

AGAIN?? DREW COLEMAN IS TRASH. He couldn't cover a bowl of soup. He is garbage...why the hell do we keep bringing him back? cuz he's cheap? could sign a college drop out better than him. I can't believe jets gave him 1.2 mill but cut donald strickland? who's eon's a better nickel than drew.

I like Coleman, I much prefer him than Strickland, even though Strickland done well in the play-offs last year. I'm sure Ryan and Tanny know what they're doing.

He's a non factor...he too short and too slow and cant cover. he gets a lot of tackles cuz he lets guys catch the ball then tackle them. And opposing teams qb's always pick us a part by throwing at whoever he covers.

I hope he never gets on the field now that we have cromartie, I hope they bump dwight lowery over to nickle.

Of course Lowery is gonna start at nickel, that's why I don't see this as that bad a move.

Exactly, and it's the same thing with Leon Washington signing his tender.

He's insurance, doesn't mean he is going to start, I don't see this as a negative.

The Jets were reportedly very on the verge of acquiring Brandon Marshall.

Apparently we were close to agreeing to sign him to an offer sheet and give up our 29th pick for him.

I think Tanny backed out in the end and went for Holmes because he thought the 1st round was too high for Marshall.

EDIT -
The Jets very nearly landed wide receiver Brandon Marshall, according to a report in the Denver Post.

Marshall was traded to the Dolphins a few days ago.

Miami gave up two second round picks for the receiver and there was interest from the Jets, Seahawks and the Buccaneers.

New York was ready to sign Marshall to an offer sheet, which would have meant giving up a first-round pick, No. 29 to Denver.

I'm happy with Santonio Holmes for the fifth. That First should net us a valuable defensive piece.

Doesn't mean he will be a good nickel. and we need more depth at cb. And I still would rather have this dude off the team n not getting a 1.2 mill. and giving it to strictland.

Strickland was solid when he actually played but truth of the matter is the dude was consistently injured and could not be counted on game in and game out. We need a productive nickel who can actually play and Strickland wasn't that.

To be fair, I just see this as a depth move, we don't have that many picks, we don't have that much cap and the Final Four rule prevents us from pretty much upgrading through free agency. So, it's a good move by management.

Apparently, Leon (and a very late pick) got traded to Seattle for John Conner, their 5th round RB.

Not sure how this makes any sense whatsoever for us.

It's the 5th round, so I think we went for players that won't contribute in the first year, but could prove very valuable later. Kind of like a project, I mean look at Slauson!

From the Gholston we've seen, it can be easy to panic over this move.

But it could be the spark he needs to get going and live to the potential we drafted him for.
