After veering away from their needs in the fourth round, the Bears went back to a position that cried out for help in the fifth when they chose cornerback Joshua Moore from Kansas State.

Moore was an excellent value pick for the fifth round. Three scouts from other teams previously said he was a third -round value.

At 5-11, 188, Moore has decent height but could improve his strength. He bench-pressed 225 pounds at the combine only two times. He is unlike most of the Bears' other corners in that he has more man-to-man ability and isn't as solid a tackler.

"He is a very good athlete," an AFC personnel director said of Moore, who ran the 40 yard dash in 4.50 at the combine. "He has very quick feet and he covers well. He is not very physical."

My pre-draft eval. FWIW the team I was with had him high on their list for the 5th as well.

24. Joshua Moore, Kansas State--skinny ballhawk with very natural cover skills and good quickness. Savvy in coverage and rarely gets beat deep despite only average speed. Extremely slight, only benched 225 twice at the Combine and is visibly and significantly less developed than his counterparts. Missed a year to academics and was not noted for being the hardest worker at KSU. Decent sleeper potential if he can bulk up and wants it bad enough. 6th-7th round.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

He is probably in line for a Lovie red shirt year.

Return to Chicago Bears
