Doug Collins as coach?
What do you guys think? Not only is he an excellent coach but also knows and develops talent. He convince Jerry Krause to pick Horace Grant and I think Pippen. He also help developed them into the players they became.

Re: Doug Collins as coach?
why would you guys want collins? he's terrible. MJ never did anything while he was the coach, then when he got the boot MJ won 6 rings. never did anything in detroit or washington either. IMO if you cant keep larry brown, you should look into the following coaches before even considering collins:
hubie brown: say what you want, but the guy knows the game. he preaches defense which is what you guys excell in and he is great with PG's (see jason williams)
mike fratello: see hubie brown, theyre clones, except the czar is younger
jeff van gundy: the guy has been a winner everywhere he has been. he took an 8 seed to the finals and managed to win a game. he is a defensive minded coach as well. also it would be cool to have jvg and svg in the same division
avery johnson: has finals experience as a player and a coach. being a point guard he could mentor DJ and ray should you keep him. preaches defense
byron scott: if you want to obtain cp3, this is the way to go. look at what cp3 did with tyson in the west a would years back. imagine if it was tyson, cp3, and crash....

why wouldnt they?? when you have built your team around a guy who is as dedicated and hard working as crash is, who wouldnt want to coach here. working with jordan is an added bonus as well.

Doug Collins is like Scot skiles. He took the bulls to the eastern con. finals when they were still developing. Even mj and scottie said they would have won if Doug had been allowed to stay. Phil took over at the right time. He took over Detroit and immediately improved them. Washington was a 19 win team before he got their and they won I think 37 games with mj being injured at end. They would have definitely made the playoffs. A big plus is he knows talent.
This team made the playoffs but at what cost. Larry ordered the gm to bring in these big contracts and trade draft picks. Now he is about to leave with the team over the cap and no drat picks. He does this wherever he goes. He leaves his team in shambles.

Brown, Fratello and Van Gundy definitely want to stick to their current jobs. Scott isn't anything special and Avery will probably go to a team that can offer him a **** of money, like the Nets

Re: Doug Collins as coach?
i would be OK with doug i guess. the reality is, there arent that many coaches that are real difference makers in the game, LB being one of the exceptions on the good side and vincent being an exception on the bad side. you could probably hire 10 different coaches for us next year and the end results would most all be withing a few games.
usually your talent will dictate your record and good coaches can maybe get a few more wins while bad coaches might cost a few wins.
every now and then you get lightning in a bottle for a particular year where a team gets a huge jump from a coach, like skiles this year, but that is more the exception than the rule.

Skiles is great though, he had that team looking at the playoffs last year before Bogut and to a much lesser extent Redd went out for the season.
Anyway, not so excited about Collins, but I guess I could live with it.

Skiles kind of reminds me of a younger Larry Brown. Would love to have him here.

The European stylings of Milwaukee are too great for us to compete against.

Re: Doug Collins as coach?
I would def take Doug Collins with our gm being kind of wet behind the ears drafting wise.
