These guys played like dogs and need to be traded
Like Popovich said after Spurs lost Game 1, their role players played like dogs.
I think we have some dogs on our team too:
- J.R. Smith
- Nene
Trade their asses. If you want me to describe these aggressive-passive players in one accurate word, it's "inconsistency".
If we ever dream of winning a championship in the next 5 years or during Melo era in his prime, we gotta unload guys who are in the top 7 rotation who are not consistent.
Why? Simply because when they are high, we are high. When they are "dogs" we are dogs too. We don't want to be dogs, we want to be winners.
I don't know what Nene is so afraid of taking/ attempting shots, when he's stronger than most of his defenders, when he's the one giving bruises than receiving.
We improve by eliminating inconsistencies in this team. I think that should be the focus of this team in the summer. That's how we should get better.
In return bring in players who we know we can count on night in, night out. Players like Noah (I know Bulls won't trade him, but he's just an example here) is inferior to Nene talent wise, but guy plays with his heart out every single night, every single possession. He might give you 8 pts one night, and 20 the next... but one thing you know is you're getting 10+ rebounds from him every time. I mean EVERY time.
Same with J.R.... we gotta unload his ass... I'm tired of watching him go for 40 pts (when most of those highlight 3s are scored when the games have been decided)... and like Nene, tends to disappear when we need him most in big games. If you look at Jamal Crawford for example, you know the Hawks are getting automatic 15 pts every night off the bench. He may not explode for 10_ 3s or 45 pts like J.R. can, but he will give you 15 points every night for your team... and I think that's why the area where the Hawks have improved this year: consistency.
---
Again, the focus of our off-season must be to eliminate inconsistency. Hopefully, we can somehow trade them both for players who bring in consistent performance... that would be eliminating inconsistency and adding consistency in one move/ separate deals. That would be accomplishing two goals in one move.
We can't win when part of the team is inconsistent... when one department is not producing the whole organization suffers. We must, must trade these cats... I mean dogs.

You gonna dump Nene and Jr, you better add KMart, Billups, and your boy Dantley being gone as well.

I know it won't happen, but if we package Nene, JR and a draft pick to Toronto for Bosh (S/T) that would be sweet. I can dream

^Yeah Pullups too (I mean Billups)... wow I just realize this... isn't he an expiring contract next season?

And I forgot Bird... the Dogman needs to be traded as well.
The guys that come on top of my head:
- Kevin Love (seem to weirdly fall out of Rambis' rotation in Minnesota, never struggled, Rambis just "decided" to doghouse him)... I'd take Love over Nene any day. I mean any day. 10+ rebds + even better passing than Nene + some outside and nice free throw shooter
- Ramon Sessions... like Billups early in his career, Sessions is a scoring PG learning the ropes to be a true PG. With Billups teaching he can be a full time starter. Let's not give that position to Ty Lawson yet... I don't think the rook is ready in his second year.
- Yi Jianlian... he's a riser, can rebound and shoot... I would err a bit because he is so injury prone. But if he's healthy he is nice to have... as a starter may be too much weight on him, but as a 6th - 7th man (Bird replacement), he will do very well.
- Rasual Butler will knock down threes and plays nice defense. He plays within the offense and will be a good 7th man providing offense off the bench for us
- Kendrick Perkins... I don't think Boston is getting past second round (Cavs), so they will shake up their roster a bit... give them J.R. and Bird and we got our defensive anchor center for years to come... unlike his well-known scowl, he's a good teammate to have and a great lockerroom guy. We get him and we might not have to part with Nene, who can come off the bench.
- Brendan Haywood... if he is he an expiring, not so sure... if Mavs are bounced in the first round, he might consider signing elsewhere... give him full MLE.
- Monta Ellis... now he's a scorer... I think he's more of a playmaker than strictly a scorer... as he can create shots for himself and his teammates... imo better than J.R. He can finish very well in the paint. As a sixth man, we would have a great punch off the bench... we would have to guide him to be more selfless and accept a "Jamal Crawford" role... I think his playmaking would make our second unit awesome or help the first unit if it's struggling.
- Quentin Richardson... sign him to a minimum, if he wants. He can knock down threes and plays some defense... good for a 8th man.
- Nick Young... possibly J.R. replacement as a sixth man..
You guys can contribute here... what guys you think who can give the Nuggets some consistent contribution. Shouldn't be hard knowing Nene and J.R. are very inconsistent.

I suggested this before the trade deadline, but what about Iguodala? A good scorer/defender/rebounder/playmaker..I think he'd be a good fit next to Melo because he doesn't demand the ball that much, and he would still get his touches especially when Melo is resting

Yeah Iggy can't shoot, so when we kick out it's fugly. But if he'd accept a 6th man role, I'd take him. Very doubtful... and that contract is big. And I don't want another AI in Denver

Only guys I want to keep are Melo, AA, Ty, and possibly Petro.
It would be nice if we had a way to get into the Bosh, Amare, or Joe Johnson sweepstakes, but that wouldn't be easy.

A note on Yi is that he was actually one of the league leaders amongst PF in FTA per game this year... I think there is a valid concern over whether he can survive the grind of an 82 game season while playing heavy minutes though..
I'd love to have Nene on the Nets but realistically I don't know what package the Nets could offer that would appeal to the Nuggets...

Damn, I would love it if we could somehow get Bosh with JR and KMart/Nene.

Yeah, the problem with trading Nene is Denver needs to find a center to replace him. Nets don't have that.
Just a shot in the dark: Nene for Yi, Dooling, and Lee. It does increase the cap, but still leaves room for a max guy + more. But with that deal, then Denver needs to trade for a real center or hope Haywood takes the MLE. Not sure I really like it either, LOL.

^I'd love that trade... not only we get rid of Mr. Inconsistent, we get Yi who in comparison to Nene is a Chinese Hulk and more importantly Lee...
I believe Lee plays his best in winning situations... he would play great on both ends. I remember him locking it down in his rookie year in Orlando... I still believe he plays great D, but when you play for the Nets, nothing you do is noticed.
I also would like KMart back, but not as the starter anymore. I just don't have faith in his knee anymore... If Yi is the starting PF, I want a new C.
I just confirmed with Hoopshype, Brendan Haywood is a free agent this summer. If he can't get past first round with this current Mavs squad, what's the point of resigning there only to play with the same squad next sesason? He might as well sign with a different team and have a different outcome, playing with guys like Melo, AAA, Ty would surely do wonders.

Re: These guys played like dogs and need to be traded
Meanwhile, Nene is giving them n-nothing, vanishing from sight in the two games in Utah despite a seemingly one-sided match-up in athleticism against Utah’s Kyrylo Fesenko. His advantage was so clear, in fact, that Anthony seemed bewildered about it afterward.
“Fesenko?” said Anthony. “Don’t get me wrong. He is playing extremely well. He’s playing with a lot of confidence, but … Fesenko?
Perhaps worst of all, floor general Chauncey Billups is so busy managing the asylum that his numbers have tanked dramatically ever since Karl left the sideline. Billups shot 38.2% in March and 37.6% in April, and his trademark pull-up 3 has deserted him. Since March 1, he’s only shooting 28.6% from downtown. Tonight he fouled out in 33 minutes with a modest 14 points.

Keep Nene and trade JR
Nene's just not that good against a decent big with bigger size and decent speed
Last not least,bring back LK

There's no point in keeping Nene. He will never evolve into the player he is capable of being. He just doesn't care.

^Yeah... games where he has 3-5 pts & 2-4 rebounds with 5-6 fouls hurt us more than when he has 20 and 10 games. His sucky games always seem to happen in big/ important games.
When you strive for a championship (aka excellence) you can't count on guys who are crazy and unstable like him ("OMG scoring is sinful and makes me pathetic guilty so I am gonna pass this ball and the next one and the next one and at the same time make my defenders like Fesenko look like Dwight Howards") and deliver inconsistency to the system.
It's common sense. You don't want to rely on an old car that sometimes works fine but other times just doesn't even start up... you're gonna be late to meetings/ dates. You want your car to be reliable because otherwise the person you screw at the end is yourself by being late to meetings/ appointments all the time. When you hire a lawyer, you wanna make sure he's skilled and has consistently won his cases, not someone who wins some and loses some... cuz you'll risk losing your case.
It's really common sense. The team has to act in the best interest of the Nuggets, not individuals. In fact, this "unselfishness" of Nene should be viewed as "selfish" because he's not doing what the team asks him to do... to be aggressive, not passive. If you have your own agenda/ approach to basketball how it's supposed to be played, you better get the hell out... We Nuggets don't need bitches who think scoring is sinful (genuine question, is it really sinful in Brazilian culture to score in a basketball game? That's why you have offensive scrubs like Varejao too) with dramas, we need real players.

The Nets are looking to upgrade at power forward, which could mean the end for Yi Jianlian in New Jersey, according to the New York Daily News.
Kiki Vandeweghe, Yi's main supporter, is no longer coaching the team, making it easier for the Nets to phase the forward out of the lineup or even trade him.

What's your point? Denver doesn't really have anything to get him with.
