Sure, he might end up being a better player then Dev, but will he be THAT much better then him? I think not. Besides, Devin has already proven he can win and lead a team, just look at what he did with the Mavs when healthy. We already have a talented young point guard who should be going into his prime soon, why start over when that popsition is already solidified with one of the top point guards in the league when healthy?

Evan is the way to go. I'm sure of it. He would be a significant upgrade over Courtney "my heart is still with Orlando" Lee. We are talking about a guy who is ready to play in the league right now(Not to take anything away from Wall, he is ready to play but point guards always have a longer learning curve), who has shown unbelievable heart and leadership skills in college. Our backcourt would be set for years to come with Devin and Evan(just noticed their names rhyme, lol).

Dude, I'm a HUGE Evan Turner fan, but I can't really agree with a lot of this.

Devin Harris a proven leader?!

I don't know if I buy all the hype on John Wall, but I think he will be significantly better then Devin Harris. I think Harris is getting undeservedly criticized right now, but he also got too much hype, respect and love for his 08-09 season.

Point guard has become the most stacked position in the league over the last few seasons and it's only getting better. On one hand this means it is technically easier to find a stud in the draft, but on the other it shows that Devin is not alone in his skill and impact and will never be close to the true top guys in the league at his position. I think he can solidify himself as a top ten point guard for the remainder of his prime as long as he puts forth the effort and his teammates are of a higher caliber, but he will never be even close to the top 5 again with the likes of Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Steph Curry, Tony Parker, Westbrook, Rondo and guys not even in the league yet like John Wall and Brandon Knight, let alone guys like Nash and Billups need to fall off and retire and the distinct possibility Gilbert Arenas takes back his spot amongst the top guys.

Point guard is a hard position to master, but look at the success of guys like Derrick Rose, Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook, Brandon Jennings, etc. The guys who are that good find a way to have an instant impact, they just take a long time to become star level.

I love Evan Turner and he could legitimately become the best player out of this draft, but I think it's silly to take him over Wall just based on need and because we have Devin Harris.
Just my opinion on the situation though.

Harris is still a good player in a friendly contract.

Still if I were the Nets, as much as I love Turner (VC4P and I both yapped about this kid for 2 years before others on this board), I'm taking Wall and making sure Harris is off the team within 24 hours of that pick. I think that market for him would be rather good. I we can work out deal Sacramento for him. Make Tyreke the SG on the team (which I think he should be anyway) and that is a solid backcourt. Plus that would accomplish my love affair of getting Jason Thompson on the Nets. Kings swung the deal last season that landed them Carl Landry. Having 2 good young PF's is a good thing, but if he was the main good young player they got in the Kmart deal, my logic there is that maybe Thompson is expendable. He'd be great next to Brook too.

If we can make that work on draft night. Maybe Harris/Yi for Nocioni/Thompson? That gives us a PF of the future and a hard nosed defender who can play the 3 and 4 sometimes. This doesn't hurt the cap room either.

Trade ID #5507403

Again, if you read my other comments, I may be losing my mind, but hey I like this move.

If we landed Wall I wouldn't be too opposed to that deal with Sacto although Noce's contract is pretty bad, it is team option for the last season.
I think Sacto would have to seriously consider that, although both of their starting back court would have serious limitations with outside shooting.
I just think there are better options out there for a Harris trade. I think I would rather have a rookie Patrick Patterson then Thompson, who didn't really improve at all in his 2nd NBA season. I don't know. There are so many damn options with this roster and the assets and flexibility we have that my head is spinning.
Solid idea though, for sure.

Thank you for making my night. I know more about Patrick Patterson than any other player in this draft. I've been obsessed with him since I saw him in high school. My projection for him is as low as a Brandon Bass-type player but not a ballhog and as range out to the 3 point line or as high as an athletic version of David West. But in my opinion, I think he will be a solid starting PF in the NBA who can even play some SF due to his range and athleticism. I've had a mancrush on this guy for over 3 years. It's probably as irrational as our boy who used to gush over Stromile Swift.

Ragtime!

Patterson is a pretty awesome player though. He has some flaws to his game and he's a little undersized, but I think he'll be a baller none the less.

I think Harris is worth a better player then Thompson. Nocioni is on the decline with a bad contract. Dont like that deal at all.

I agree Harris is worth more.

I still think trades with IND, PHI,and MEM for Harris are more reasonable.

IND needs a PG to pair with Granger
PHI needs a PG to Pair with AI and Brand since they cant trade those two
MEM might not need a PG but maybe some cap space to feel a sense of relief when they match any offer for Gay.

Not sure where Memphis can stick Devin with Mayo and Conley there. Sixers maybe, but they'd have to get rid of Lou Will or Jrue so who knows. What would we be getting in return from them. I see nothing i like on their team at all, Pacers too.

Sixers like Jrue especially with the way he played down the stretch but if the Grizzlies had Harris they'd just get rid of Conley or stick him on the bench...

What would get from the Grizz thou?

I like Mayo the most, but i'm happy with our SGs.

If its Gay, well for 1 we might get him without giving up Harris and 2 i'd rather give up Brook and get Granger.

I would trade Brook AND Devin for Granger (and Hibbert). So technically you read that wrong.

Demens is a notorious Lopez hater. I mean like an unhealthy obssession with it. It's rather sickening really. Just go to the NetsDaily boards and dig up some of his threads, it's borderline schtick.

I'm all for selecting Wall if we can trade Devin, but I'm sticking with Evan Turner as my selection...

Thanks.
I stopped posting there a while ago.
Too many warnings and edited posts for virtually no reason.
I was told on numerous occasions not to post my opinion because members of the Nets front office, Nets players and employees, etc., followed the site and wouldn't appreciate or be OK with things I was saying and some of my views and they didn't want to anger or insult them. :-? Too much excessive homerism.
Too much of you bashing Brook Lopez. :)
A few of the mods have a real sense of entitlement and I was called out and insulted a bunch of times by one of the site admins basically because he disagreed with me and then told by a mod that I needed to get my posting skills up before I continued posting as a result of the said incident, because I called said site admin out for being a complete hypocrite.
One particular incident came when I said I would rather Evan Turner then John Wall. I was grilled and ridiculed for it, told not to say so without giving an explanation, yet weeks later another poster started the Evan Turner vs. John Wall thread where he said the same as me and a bunch of posters agreed with him and in an ironic twist of fate, the mod that had warned me weeks earlier and in so many words said I was crazy agreed with the other guy. :x
Whatever, it is what it is.
This is my home anyway. 8-)
