Why would DET trade for Tony Sheffler when they recently drafted Brandon Pettigrew? Do they run that many 2 TE sets?

My first thought was Pettigrew blew his knee last year, but Detroit's management say he's fine and that's not the reasoning. But Pettigrew is also more of a straight line TE, while Scheff is more a slot variety. And like you brought up more 2 TE sets could take more pressure off of Calvin, who was triple teamed at times last year. If that's actually the case they should run 2 TE sets all day.

3. ESPN’s coverage will not go more than eight minutes without showing or mentioning Tim Tebow on Thursday. At least two near fistfights break out over how Tebow will fare in the NFL. For his part, Tebow will constantly grin and be congenial, which will only make haters in the live audience hate him and jeer more. He will be picked no later than #30 overall.

This article gave me an idea for a drinking game. Drink everytime ESPN mentions Tebow.

I think the Raiders would be a logical home for Roethlisberger. I think giving up their 1st rounder would be too much, but a trade-down scenario could make a lot of sense. He also is good enough at buying time that he could be effective without the OL being completely improved.

And they suck. He deserves it. Then Pitt can draft somebody like Claussen with Pitt's pick to make up for it. Git'er'done.

Crazy how Pitt went from SB champs, to out of the playoffs, to this. Enjoy the top while it lasts, I guess.

They've actually got an okay defense and a decent running attack. Give them a Pro Bowl level QB and a #1 receiver and they could be respectable pretty quickly. Maybe they trade for Big Ben and then sign TO? Wouldn't surprise me.

Non-Skins thought. I was a little surprised the Vikings did not take Clausen or McCoy with their 1st rounder. I wonder if they trade down again. I am pretty sure the 1st two picks will be Clausen and McCoy. Although the teams may be different.

^ Speaking of QBs, what's up with Denver giving up a bunch of picks to move up to get Tebow? Going off the WireTap article, looks like the Bills bluffed them into doing it. But still, they gave up a lot for a guy who isn't going to play for a while and more likely than not will be mediocre at best when he does. I guess Josh McDaniels' ego as a "QB guru" knows no bounds.

^ Speaking of QBs part 2, Jamarcus Russell continues to redefine "bust". Apparently the Jason Campbell trade pushed him over the edge, he reportedly now weighs 300 lbs. He eats because he's unhappy. He's unhappy because he eats.

Is this why the Broncos got Tebow? I am shocked Trent Williams jerseys were not among the top sellers :)

Here is a guy I doubt will sell a lot of jerseys even if he makes the Cowboys:

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP)—The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent running back Rock Cartwright to a contract.

I wonder if Al Davis' plan is to re-create last year's Skins team.
