^^^^

Patrick Patterson will go between 8-12 so naturally I'm sold on the Pacers deal. I think TJ is solid for a 2nd unit PG even if he can't play defense to save his life.

Only thing I don't totally agree with is Anthony Morrow at the contract you sign him at. With Twill and Lee here, Morrow is ALWAYS be the 3rd string SG on our roster even if he's the best shooter of the 3. Lee and Twill are both better defenders than him so he'll NEVER move up the depth chart unless our new coach puts in a similar offense to what teams like GSW and PHX have in place. As talented as the kid is, I'm not giving $4 million a year two a 3rd string shooting guard when we we have pretty big depth issues at the 3/4/5 coming off the bench as of right now. Maybe that can change quickly, but right now, that is where we focus our free agent pick ups after we go after/sign the big name FA's.

Just an interesting fact for those who has never been to the NBA China site.
There's a banner in the middle of the page. Right in the centre, obviously, is Yao Ming, and right next to him is Yi, then the other stars (LBJ, Kobe, Wade....).

Trade Yi for ANYTHING. I doubt anyone wants him.

Me personally, I'm not trading Yi for anything. He has value, and I'm not talking about the "money he brings us for being from China" because after seeing us losing $60 million this year, I have yet to read an article giving hard figures showing us how much Yi actually made for our franchise.

By value, I mean 2 things. First, he does show flashes that he can be decent in the league. Not a superstar but in someones 8 man rotation. I actually think he'd be a lot better in a triangle offense like the Lakers run.

Second, if we don't extend a qualifying offer, he becomes a $4 million expiring next year. We can package Harris/Dooling/Yi/Pick for a decent PF if we draft wall or PG if we draft Turner or Cousins (kill me for saying I would draft Cousins, I hate him). The other team can then buyout Doolins to save $2 million immediately, then take the 1 year flyer on Yi. If it works out, they have the first shot at signing him to a new deal. If it doesn't they can walk away from him and clear some cap room after next season.

I'm just saying, yeah Yi hasn't put anything consistent up for teams to give a lot for him, but in a package, the low risk/high reward possibility with him (especially as an expiring) can be very enticing. In that respect, some teams would look at him in the exact same regards as we did when we traded RJ for him and Bobby.

At worst, I believe we can get a late 1st for him. A team like the Lakers could use him in my opinion. Dallas is also another landing spot I think could be a definite possibility.

Prelude, Yi is a 4 million dollar expiring this upcoming season, not the following.

I thought that is what I meant. He is on the books for 4 mill in the 2010-2011 season with a qualifying offer in the 11-12 season. If we do not extend the qualifying he's technically an expiring contract next year.
