J.R. Smith- Might Never Develop Maturity & Focus
(Lets be honest,.. the Light Bulb is probably not going to turn on.)
Another Thread mentioned JR Smith's Tweets. http://twitter.com/JR_Swish
I have to say his tweets are VERY TELLING. Immaturity is the major theme throughout his tweets.
You would never mistake them for the thoughts and conversation of a 24y.o. "Professional MAN".
He is supposedly a professional right? He's paid like a professional and given professional responsibility.
Just glancing at the tweet times & content,.. while knowing the playoffs are underway speaks volumes to an unfocused mind that really does NOT value mental preparation and focus.
I seriously doubt a PRO like Ray Allen is tweeting about frivolous, inconsequential babble, and nonsense with groupies during the playoff period. Yes, its necessary to take your mind off of the pressure, but this JR sounds like a 24yo high school kid.
Another Trade for him is probably the best thing for the Nuggets as well as JR

Re: J.R. Smith- Might Never Develop Maturity & Focus
Just as I would expect,.. a player of Ray Allen's focus has not tweeted since the opening day of the playoffs.
http://twitter.com/greenrayn20 Reading Ray Allen's tweets & JR Smith's is like night & day
And that was to let his fans know how his mother finished running the Boston Marathon,.. Ray ran the last 1.5 to the finish with his mom.
Ray's tweets speak volumes to his focus,.. tweets about getting a run in,.. training, focus on the shoes he'll be wearing game night, speaking engagements to youth,.. last time he was in Utah,.. he tweeted about running at elevation,.. encouraging people to keep the tweets positive, (not telling em he'll make them eat their words. Uggh)
Ray was even tweeting asking people to not bash Patrick O'Bryant and giving the guy encouragement. He says he mainly reads alot of tweets but feels there is a lot of negativity, and you can see he does not tweet very much.

Shut up seriously, what a garbage post, stop following his twitter if you don't like what you see, its a free country, he can say whatever he wants. He hasn't even had that bad of a series, just his shots are not falling, been playing pretty good defense. If Billups was actually doing something or that idiot coach knew how to run a play, or Melo learned how to pass, especially when he gets double teamed that might help you guys a little.

What games have you been watching because JR has only showed up for 1 qtr this whole damn series and his defense has been awful along with everyone else on this team unless you call leaving korver wide open good for 3 is good defense.

Are you related to Jr smith, thats the only way you can believe what you just typed. JR hasnt been seen since game 1 point blank period.
Matter of fact you were in the game thread saying JR is the best player on the nuggets, you gotta be related to him, are you his cousin, or something?

Re: J.R. Smith- Might Never Develop Maturity & Focus
I don't see why you even like the guy. Off the court he's a clown with suspensions and on the court he shoots 3's.....maybe, well he did in game 1... he's being outworked by Kyle Korver/matthews/miles back court combo. Matthews is undrafted. Also last night the commentators were asking "where's JR?"
You can find many other free agents who can shoot that 3 and work harder. I wouldn't waste money or cap space on him.

I know you are a JR homer, but he does NOT play good except for one quarter
He would brick even more shots if Melo passed to him

I wish LK is still there though

At the risk of bringing up a sensitive topic, this is the same dude who continued to get speeding tickets (and get his license suspended) AFTER causing his friend to die in a car accident.
If he can't learn from that mistake, how do you expect him to learn from mistakes on the basketball court?
Edit: I think you're better off without him. Melo deserves a more structured offense and smarter teammates.

Even with half a brain, he's still not as talented as people believe. He jumps high and shoots well every now and then. He isn't coordinated, doesn't have awareness, and doesn't know much outside of one on one play.

Re: J.R. Smith- Might Never Develop Maturity & Focus
He doesn't have a feel for the game besides face the basket... it's either a three pointer or drives to the rim.
He has all the talent in the world, but J.R. is one of those guys who think they're at the top and get complacent/ satisfied with what he has accomplished. Although judging on his talent, he can easily accomplish more. He's satisfied being a $6 mil player rather than a $12 mil player. When you have the talent to go at least twice where you've gone so far, you're selling yourself short... you're a disgrace to yourself.
If he had Kobe's feistiness, willingness to learn every summer, he'd have mid-range game, post up game by now. See how Kobe just has ridiculous array of moves inside the three pt line... that's what makes him so dangerous. I compare J.R. to Kobe because I think they are similar types of players, with similar skillsets... J.R. could easily get up there with the elites, but he thinks he's already good, so he won't get there.
Verdict: trade him. Mainly because of his inconsistency and he will also get us the consistent players we need.

JR has KILLED the Jazz many, many times.
The less you play him the more I like it.
The less you play him the more I like it.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Mental.
He didn't even show up in an elimination game.
Pitiful. Takes a step backwards as a player.
Great Opportunity to step up,...
Mental Part of the Game,.. Does a Disappearing Act

I don't blame him.. he needs consistent minutes to be effective... you can't just put him in the game whenever you feel like and expect him to play well

He's got to earn minutes. This year he was a big disappointment and didn't really deserve a whole lot of playing time.
For years I've read the "JR needs more minutes" "JR needs to start" "Karl is too hard on JR" crap. And it's crap. By now we have a very good idea of JR's potential and it's just not there.
