i'm not some expert, but to me it seems likely, maybe inevitable, that bosh goes to knicks, and david lee comes back.

and i have much less confidence in this, but bosh to the lakers makes sense too. they can move gasol (not sure if they'd have to move him for bosh or how it would work)....

but both ideas make tons of sense to me.

Think about it, Hedo prospered playing with a real big man down in the paint. He could lob alley oops at will, get great screens and get a great blocker. If this deal goes through, Hedo imo will prosper more. (luckily jose will be gone too)

Just further proof that the New York school system is in dire need of additional funding.

I THINK that I WOULD PROBABLY RATHER GET a trade exemption than David Lee.

AS would I. The last THiNG we need is another BIG contract attached TO a player who CAN'T defend.

This is the only trade our there that make sense straight up. If It does happen it's because the Lakers would've lost this yr and wanted to shake things up and get into this years offseason festivities. Its not a long strech that the Lakers do it. They are a pretty old squad minus Bynum. Getting Bosh would be a move for now and the future imo for LaLa land. They would have to take Calderon tho in a s&t for either Farmer or Shannon Brown. Hopefully we can get Brown. The other deal I thought was possible is Okafur & Collison for Bosh, but I unno if that is a good enough return.

These Lee rumours scare the everlovin' out of me, nightmarish stuff. This move has Colangelo written all over it. I can just picture him at the press conference
"well we've manages to replace 20 pts and 10 rbs we lost from Chris leaving, so all we have to do now is sign someone averaging 4 and 1 and we come out even!"

Is it just me, or does anyone else think we'll win around 45 games next year if we get Bynum and are able to get anything remotely serviceable for Jose? Andrea will likely improve, Demar, weems and amir will almost certainly improve, and Turk has nowhere to go but up from this season. Bynum addresses our rebounding and defense issues as well as any one player not named Dwight Howard could, and throw a productive 13th pick into the mix, this team may very well compete for 50 games. Of course, this is all contingent on if Bynum stays healthy, and that is one Andrew Bynum sized if.

Do the Lakers really want to start Pau Gasol at C all year, by choice? Will Pau go for that? Simmons has been discussing this trade with the ESPN guys on his podcast all year and every time they're like, "Oh yeah, this makes so much sense." I can't understand why they don't consider the possibility that Pau doesn't want to play C all the time. He seems like the sulky type.

It's funny, I actually have a lot of respect for the NBA knowledge of Simmons and Stein, and yet they overlook this obvious wrinkle and act shocked that the Spurs and Jazz are winning their series. I know the series are both still going on, but I picked the Spurs and Jazz to both win their series based on some pretty basic concepts like point differential, health and how the teams played at the end of the season. Sometimes, I think these "experts" overthink these things and manage to overlook some pretty obvious things in the process.

Having said that, this is probably the best-case scenario for a Bosh S&T if there's any credence to it. I still think Beasley or Lee are the most likely (and hugely disappointing) returns if a S&T happens. And I also still think there's a better than 50% chance that Bosh re-signs with the Raptors.

Haven't listened to the podcast but Simmons has said the reason he never liked Oden and now Bynum is because they rely on sudden bursts of movement, which is hell on big man bodies. As others have said, this is easily the best return we could get but I have my worries about his health and work ethic.

I found the Simmons piece on Oden from a couple years ago:

Sure, he could dunk in traffic, challenge a few shots, sink an ugly jump hook or two. But everything came in quick bursts. His game lacked a certain fluidity that great centers usually have. It's the same quality that bothered me about the guy in college: Maybe all the parts were there, but the whole rarely matched them.

Here's where you should (rightly) point out that Oden was returning from microfracture surgery and battling inevitable confidence issues. And here's where I agree. It's too early to say definitively, This is where we stand. I just know what I saw, and here's what I saw: a 20-year-old guy who walked and ran like he was 35. Of course, you could have said the same about him in Columbus, but back then, at least he would randomly unleash an occasional superfreak moment: a hellacious dunk, a Russell-like block, whatever. Not anymore. His current ceiling looks more like Erick Dampier on a really good day.

Maybe Calderon is part of this Bosh/Bynum swap.

I could see a 3 team trade coming:

Toronto gets
Bynum
Artest(cuz he doesn't play well in the triangle)
Prince

Lakers get
Bosh
Calderon
Banks/Evans(expire)

Detroit gets
1st rounder(ATL)
***immediate cap relief

Atlanta gets
Cash(Toronto)
Cash(Lakers)

MNM-23 wrote:I have been CB4's biggest fan since day 1 and dont get me wrong--it would kill me to see him in another uniform but if Bynum is on the table for CB4 you go for it.

I've always been a big time bargnani hater but the weaknesses he has would be made up if we had Bynum next to him. CB4 is an allstar but I would rather have a traditional C at a cheaper price than paying the max for him.

If BC can complete a deal by sending out Bosh, Jose, and a resigned Wright

for Bynum, Sasha, filler (Walton?) & a first or two firsts

you go for it.

This would make us a really good team for the future (apart from Turk--but lets get it straight--noones going to take him) and remember we still have Evans & Banks expiring (10.2 million next year)

Bosh may not want to go to LA despite rumors though because lets face it---he wont get enough touches and his numbers would decrease by a lot and he's very similar to Gasol (in some aspects)

I'm sure LA would love this trade though--because it would define them as a dynasty. Look how nasty this team is:

Calderon/Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Shannon Brown/Wright
Artest/Odom/(probably a cheap guy with a bit of MLE)
Bosh/Powell/Gasol
Gasol/Shaq (I see him returning to L.A this offseason to finish his career)/Mbenga

:o :o :o :o :o

For the people who dont know why Bosh would go to LA when he wont be "the man", a lineup like this is the reason. For people who say "Bosh going to LA makes their frontcourt as soft as ours"..... What planet are you from? Gasol is 100x tougher that Bargs and the less said about the toughness difference between Artest and Turk, the better. A front court of bosh, gasol, artest is actually quite tough and all the better when you think about how Kobe and Ron will be severely limiting the penetration of the other team. If you need more reasons for why Bosh would do this, he says hes all about winning, and this team has a legitimate shot to win 70-75 games. Furthermore, Bosh is smart enough to realize that in 3-4 years, he will without question be the #1 option. This deal just makes sense all around, because the Lakers are in the west and the raps would only have to face this behemoth twice a year (until we make the finals :D )

fans are so funny. last year the gm made moves and most of us thought it was all good. now, if this rumour is tru, we praise BC. if we have a poor season, they will say otherwise. lets just all chek back in at the allstar break. fickle fickle.
