Nice--here come the unreasonably demanding supposed fans calling for the GM's head and calling the regular season a failure when the team gets 53 wins on the back of Deron--who was only obtained because the GM moved up to get him--and 2nd rounders. Way to solidify your reputation as the biggest whiners in the league.
Falling short of a goal is not failing. If it is then there would only be 1 team in the league every year who didn't "fail". Not to mention that the Jazz have been a "failure" ever since they were established. Sounds like many could use a broader definition of success or a wider perspective.
I look at it and say the season was successful--53 wins in a horribly tough conference, ready to make a playoff run--in spite of missing several key players due to injury, positioned with a lottery pick and a solid returning cast for the future, and solid financially in a tough economy. The guy who says 'but we only got the 7th seed and aren't going to win a championship' deserves a swift kick in the pants.

I still completely stand by my belief that the regular season was a failure.
Of course the playoffs have been great to watch as a Jazz fan, but a team that has been together for so long and was still unable to show significant improvements in the standings to set themselves up for a championship run, and the failure of the front office to answer some of our long term questions I still say the regular season was a bust.

Think about it this way, please.
What were your expectations going into the season?
What were the team's goals going into the season?
Did they meet those two? If no, then it isn't a success.

We were 2 games away from being the # 2 seed, I don't think this has anything to do with being week. It is more to do with being in an extremely even conference.
And if you look at how we started the season, you see where the problem was. It was not the Phoenix game. It was the beginning of the season when every teammate had to regain trust in a power forward that just dissed everyone during the offseason. It took them a couple months to pull it together, once they did, they only had a few games you can question the effort on, which you are always going to have. Even our finals years we lost a few games you just had to ask "how?".
Also, wasn't their a thread at the beginning of the season showing where everyone on this forum thought we would finish? How did we do compared to that true expectation?
