I'd be more worried about Bynum's attitude, work ethic, maturity not to mention being some kind of leader on the court/locker room, and injuries

It is a fact - yes - but that doesn't disprove what garbagenani said - that Bosh contributes to our bad overall defense. Just because the team is better with him, it doesn't mean he's some stellar defender who's likely to break out as a "defensive force" if he's traded to LA. It just means he's not as bad as everyone else on the Raptors and it's just as likely that he'll worry more about points and rebounds in LA like he does here.

Rhettmatic wrote:On the BS Report today, Bill Simmons and Marc Stein kicked around some things they'd heard around the league. These are just rumours, and unsubstantiated ones at that.
Simmons claimed that he had heard from a "very connected person" who heard from another "very connected person" that the Bosh-Bynum deal is done. Actually done, already agreed upon. Even he seemed a bit skeptical.
Stein, meanwhile, said he's heard whispering about a Bosh-David Lee deal. He says it makes no sense for the Raptors with Bargnani already here, but says that the Raptors are "pretty big David Lee fans."

Just to emphasize, this is absolutely just a rumour. Even the guys on the podcast acknowledge that.
I listened to the podcast a few hours ago and you are putting words in their mouth.
Simmon's was not saying that that is a current rumor. He was saying it tongue in cheek like because that particular rumor (from several months back) was one that he had been pimping on his show, but it fell through the woodworks and it became a bit of an embarassment at how wrong they all were about it.
He is in no way insinuating that there is a current Bosh for bynum deal. Listen to the podcast again. All these pages of people discussing something that was not even said in the first place

Other than that, good post.

Re: ESPN BS Report rumour: Bosh for Bynum already done?
Bynum would be a great pickup and improve our D tremendously but we are going to pay a price rebounding the ball as from a D-reb point of view Bosh >>>> Bynum.
I still think its' fine and we can hope Bynum has another gear on the glass.
But you must realize that Bosh+Bargs DRB% was approx = to Bynum/Gasol
That's how badly Bosh carried Andrea's sorry ass rebounding the ball. He was the 6th rated PF in DRB%, Andrea was the 50th Center.
Long term Bynum/Bargs is a good fit and we can hopefully surround them with 3 athletic guards, b/c we have a 14 foot frontline.
I'd be willing to trade any and all of Turk/Jose/Jack for pennies on the dollar and expirings just so we can turnover more of the roster.

Shaq couldn't either, but he dominated for as long as he did.

While in the abstract your point might be true (i.e., Bosh is a bad defender, but his teammates are worse), the Raps have had fairly excellent defensive teams (e.g., 2007-2008, 13th in the league), and CB was a positive contributor there:
http://basketballvalue.com/teamplayers. ... =2007-2008
or http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/TOR/2008.html
Same story for the 2006-2007 team (12th in the league.)
So it it appears he'd positively contribute even on a good defensive team.

Dwight is a beast.
The Bucks are going to be screwed without Bogut in there to bang with big Howard.
Magic in 5.
Edit: And yes, I see the Bucks putting Hotlanta out in 6 and then I will be able to think even less of the Meek Brothers. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2010/04/0 ... n-the-atl/

I'm pretty sure that with the Raps, Bynum can average 20/10. With the Lakers, the offense runs through Bryant and Gasol so Bynum doesn't get a lot of touches.

I think he could even average more. In the games when Pau wasn't playing this season, Bynum managed to put up 19.8ppg/11.4rpg/1.6bpg, and that's with strong rebounders/defenders at PF/SF in Odom and Artest (and of course Kobe taking a lot of touches on offense). Bynum would look like Dwight playing next to Bargs. And without Bosh getting the majority of the touches, Bynum (and Bargs) would get a lot more scoring opportunities than he does now, and he converts at a very efficient 57%. As long as whoever we have at PG is effective at dumping it into him in the post, I find it very hard to see this being a situation where his individual numbers don't improve significantly.

Does anyone know if Bynum would even want to stay in Toronto?
Like I said earlier..I thought they released rumours of Bynum to Toronto trades to scare him into playing better?

Re: ESPN BS Report rumour: Bosh for Bynum already done?
I'd be ecstatic if we got Bynum. A big defensive center would do wonders for this team.
But if this rumor isn't true, I'm hoping BC looks at other young defensive centers such as Noah, Oden, Asik, etc.

Absolutely. That has to be his primary target. I don't see Portland moving Oden, or Chicago giving up Noah. If the Bynum deal isn't there, then Asik+1st looks good too. If BC is really creative, he might be able to use Beasley+pick (acquired through a Bosh s&t), along with our own assets (DD? Weems+Belinelli?) to make a great package to land the rights to Rubio+Pekovic, or just Beasley+pick to land Thabeet or Hibbert.

Re: ESPN BS Report rumour: Bosh for Bynum already done?
Maybe it's already mentioned but the problem with Bynum:
1. Motivational issues and lack of focus. JT is a nice guy but he's not an NBA coach who can motivate NBA players. If P-Jax and his 10 rings has problems pushing the right buttons on a guy on the same team as Kobe, then what success will JT have? I'll answer that ---- NONE.
There has to be a reason why the Lakers are even contemplating trading a guy who on paper looks like a dominant centre (in a league with just 1), that's cause they don't think he has the maturity to produce at a high level ---- most of the time.
2. He's injury prone (duh).
3. He's not cheap, $44 mil for the next 3 years.

Re: ESPN BS Report rumour: Bosh for Bynum already done?
I would like this trade out of all I have heard so far if Bynum wasn't quickly becoming the center position's version of Tracy McGrady in that he is almost assured to miss 20 to 30 games a season. In his first five years so far he has only played one full season.
05-06 he missed 36 games
06-07 was his only complete season
07-08 he missed 47 games
08-09 he missed 32 games
09-10 he missed 17 games
He isn't in the class of "Mr. Glass" Greg Oden but he has shown himself to definitely by injury prone like McGrady to the point of where you are going to have to expect to have a "plan b" for a portion of the season.
