What do you guys think of Red Cafe? I really think dude's got potential and he's been working with the Lox a bit so that's a good sign...

I do not like Red Cafe because well Obie Trice was on the scene before Red Cafe. They are one in the same, it's like wait who am I listening to here. Never have or will take him seriously.

Speaking of Trice, once heavily co-signed by Em so I guess we could say Em probably has some production work on his projects but he fell off hard. It really makes you wonder sometimes those who are geniuses in the game really don't have a true eye or ear for talent say than regular joe blow who follows Hip-Hop.

I'll take Red over Obie Trice any day, better rapper and style
at least red might be on a song with fab, bleu davinci and freck
I haven't heard good obie trice in a while.

I'm a fan of both Trice and Red. I think they have a similar voice and delivery but there are some clear differences between the two. Obie dropped a mixtape not long ago that was pretty dope actually. The problem with geniuses in the game, is that they're all lawyers and suits. They aren't looking for the next big thing, but the next Drake or Weezy or Em or whatever...they want to clone success rather than spark new success. Even the older cats in the game aren't getting promotion (Red, Meth, Busta), I mean dudes have paid their dues and get no love. It's a messed up game out there. Obie was too hard for current Interscope, I mean they dropped the ball with established acts too (remember Eve, Busta and a couple of others jumping to work with Dre and Em).

Trice is doing what ever C-D grade rapper is doing and trying to make it on their own. He was working on something not long ago I recall. I'm not sure where he stands on his work at the moment. It doesn't really matter to me who's working with who right now. I'll never co-sign someone based on who they are affiliated with or who they claim. Otherwise Fat Joe would be considered one of the greats in the game today and I'm talking Top 15 at the minimum.

Understandable.
Red still is the better rapper. Your only independent when you can't be mainstream.
I never listed more than my top 10 but Fat Joe might be around 15.

I was being facetious for example purposes... but Fat Joe would never crack my Top 15, not even based off of today's rappers

I don't think that's fair to Trice's first album. Cheers was a damned good album, and although it got more promotion due to his affiliation, there aren't many C-D grade rappers who could match it. Second Round wasn't as good but it was a solid effort (albeit C or D level but a quality C effort). Special Reserve as a mixtape is actually really dope, I think it's worth checking out. Fat Joe deserves a ton of respect, even though he's not a great rapper. He's done a lot for the game, helping rappers come up and putting on some. His longevity in the game deserves respect (Diddy style). Plus his helping Big Pun get on is something I'll always appreciate (Pun is a top fiver in my favorites as a proud Puerto Rican).

Make no mistake, he's no Memph Bleek or Chingy or even D-12...he earned his five minutes of shine.

Cuban Links and Armageddon beg to differ about Fat Joe right about now. Joey has made some good music but dude is like the biggest front runner ever corrupted by the Biz. It's sad what happens to a lot of these cats in the game.

Oh, I agree, what he did to Cuban Links especially is wrong (duke had MAAAAD potential)...but you can't knock someone who has had this much staying power and influence too much. You don't think Diddy stepped on a few heads to get to his spot? Or Jay? We know Jay has betrayed a ton of people. It's the business. Why hate Joe for what everyone around him has done as well.

Lloyd Banks recently did an interview about Shyne since he got out that absolutely dead on...Dude's career went down the toilet bowl as soon as he decided to change his voice and flow and try to be something new...which turned out to just be ****' wack imho.
