Avery Johnson, Doug Collins I like what we are doing thus far. I'll take Johnson over Collins as much as I like Collins. AJ got such a raw deal in Dallas.

Well they are and they aren't! Last year's all-universe coaching search was a complete farce. ES was hiring EFJ no matter what. He lost all credibility with the fans as a result. Let's see him do it the right way this time.

Avery Johnson may have had the most embarrassing upset on the history of the NBA. There was a reason he was fired.

That is a black mark, a 67 win Dallas team led by Dirk Nowitski, AKA Super Clutch. You gotta beat a 8th seed.
And not even that. Had they taken care of business on the final regular season game, they wouldn't have had to play the Warriors. They would've had to deal with the lowly Clippers.

Ok..... What if the Lakers are to lose to the Thunder by some odd remarkable chance?
How about the time the Nuggets upset George karl and the Seatle Sonics in the mid 90's.
It happens in sports.... And it's not always the coaches. I don't think it was Avery Johnsons fault either that they lost that series.

You can't deny it being true though. There is a reason no one has hired him and he has resorted to being a lowly analyst on ESPN. He took a great team and came up up extremely short with them.
You call it negative, I call it wanting a coach that won't get fired in a year for a change. We've had the most coaches in the NBA of any team since Brown was fired. You shouldn't have to settle for second fiddle. Have your expectations dropped so greatly that you are just willing to accept mediocrity now? That plays right into what they want.

Well instead of throwing a temper tantrum and ranting like a six year old who doesn't get a toy that he wants, why don't you add some input or thoughts of your own as to who we should hire.
Don't just "Sixers suck, i'm done with them if we hire this guy".
Who do you like as coach for us? Can you answer that question? I'm asking a question...............
please answer it. Give a name with some reasons why instead of your usual rant about being stuck in mediocrity and settling for second fiddle bla bla bla.
Come up with some insightful thoughts and ideas and not just these awful menstrating esque rants you seem to always have.

I already said who I wanted at least twice. Larry Brown as coach(not GM) or Rick Carlisle if he is fired. If neither of them can happen, I just promote an assistant as a temp coach for one year until the right coach comes along the following year.

I doubt Brown or Carlisle happen. Promoting an assistant is the idea I have had all along. I think Aaron Mckie or an Eric Snow deserve a shot. I'd even consider Jim Lynam but not Chris Ford no way in hell.

Seriously? Lynam? He's been like the one consistent factor in years of suckage now. No thanks, I think Jimmy's gotta go.

Re: The Coaching Thread/Update: Sixers To Meet With Johnson
I could see Snider saying that he would let LB take a senior front-office job with the Sixers as long as he coaches at least one year to get the players back to defense and fundamentals, and then turn over the reins to somebody like ESnow (who sits next to LB for the season).
While LB is saying all of this "I'll only coach for Michael" stuff, if the Sixers job is presented in this way, he'll have the wiggle room to get out of that statement (as if he needs "wiggle room" to get out of that statement...).

Dude, really? Your super-clutch Dirk had a whopping 8 points on 2-13 shooting in the series-clinching game as well as another 4-16 in the series opener? And that's all on AJ? They lost to a team that they never beat during the regular season primarily due to horrible matchups, a problem that only gets enhanced in the playoffs.
IMO, Johnson is a very good coach who, if we must do a retread, would be my preference. He doesn't have any of the melodrama of Brown and has a better record than Collins. I mean, the guy took a bunch of handpicked Nellie-ballers and in one season turned them into a pretty good defensive unit and made Dirk into an MVP. People act like he's chopped liver or something

Word. I actually took another look at those playoff series since hearing about the interviews. He lost to Pat Riley and Don Nelson; one coach has 5 rings and 9 Finals Appearances and the other has the most wins ever and basically built the Mavs to his liking. Plus, each time, Riley and Nelson had the best player in the series. Yeah, he's the coach of the only 1-seed to lose to an 8, but they had never beaten GS that whole season. GS was responsible for 20% of their regular season losses, 2 by double-digits. It was a bad draw; a horrible matchup.
My only issue with AJ was that fact that he allegedly didn't want to interview. Yet, it looked like he had interviewed for a couple different posts last year. He turned down the Memphis job mid-season, was the runner-up to D'Antoni in NY(he did interview for that one) and he and DET couldn't come to terms. From a couple DET reports, he wanted more security given the unstable job(From RC to Brown to Saunders to Curry to Kuester), that's a scenario I could see that might eliminate from this job too.
All said, if AJ is the next Sixers coach, I'm good with it.

Out of curiosity, do we even know if Eric Snow wants to coach? I keep reading his name (not just here) but I don't know that I've heard/read anything from him saying he'd like to get into that side of the business. Also, wouldn't Aaron McKie be the man to take over the helm since he has been riding the pine for the past two years next to Cheeks, DiLeo, and Jordan? I'm sure that if LB takes over that Aaron will be here still be his eyes on taking over in a couple of seasons.

Re: The Coaching Thread/Sixers To Interview Johnson On Monday
Dirk has proven many times before that he is a clutch player. The final series and the first-round exit against Golden State don't really negate his standing as one of the best crunch time performers. Just look at his numbers at seventh games. From the top of my head he averaged more than 30 ppg and won all games. Unfortunately Nowitzki has been short of some reliable supporting cast, as seen this year.
I really don't like Avery Johnson at all. He seems to be very stubborn, sticks to his plan even if it ends in failure (somewhat similar to Jordan) and I don't think he has a proper understanding about our team (recalling an interview the past year). Moreover he is not really proven at all.

I've always wondered why they keep Lynam around. What's up with that?
I don't have anything against the guy, how could I when I don't really know what role he or any other assistants have in the suckage... just seems odd that for a team that changes head coaches yearly, the assistants hang around

Dikembe wags his finger at this one. Nugs took out the sonics. And the Knicks took out Miami or vice versa one year.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably
