amare had a really tough time against the Blazers who did a great job defending him.... it will be much easier for him gainst the spurs especially if Lopez is back defending Duncan Amare will beast it

Re: STICKY - Suns vs Spurs - Round 2
Must-win series, the trauma of losing to the Spurs again would probably force Nash and Hill to retire, Stoudemire to walk and me to switch to a new team.
This time is different, we have J-Rich the Spur-killer and actual bodies we can use to muscle Duncan with Lopez, Frye and even Collins. Suns in 7 book it.

I blame the post-victory delirium. You know what I'm talking about.
I have to admit that on paper this is a really tough matchup. Both teams are really, really good.
Here's what I hope to see in this series:
1. Both teams play great. Both the Suns and the Spurs have the ability to play really, really ugly, terrible basketball; conversely, even I have to give grudging admiration for the Spurs' efficient (if boring) style. Of course, when the Suns are playing to their best, they're an absolute joy to watch for anyone who has a goddamn soul.
2. No ridiculous calls by referees. I am fine with close calls and tough breaks. I'll do my homer fan duty and bitch and complain and gnash my teeth for 1 minute and then move on. But I do not want to see any Donaghy-level crap, and I don't think the Spurs do, either.
3. Nobody gets hurt. That goes for both teams. A victory over the Spurs will only be sweet if unleavened by bad calls, injuries, or suspensions. God forbid, I think the same thing would be true the other way around.
Does this good will mean I hate the Spurs with less than the power of a thousand suns? No. They're still right up there with Al Qaeda as far as I'm concerned. But let's give this epic rivalry its due with a proper competition.
Nice post. You can put us up with Al Qaeda just don't have your owner say you hate us and you'll be fine. Good lucky guys looking for another classic series.

Funny but unnecessary.

I think this time is best serve to enjoy what the suns have accomplished this season. Every season I always want to believe that its our year. I think after last year's debacle I am more inclined to just enjoy that the team has made it to the 2nd round. I do hope the suns finally beat the spurs.

gut check time suckas!

No you don't.
Memphis says "THHBBPPPTTTT!!!" and Toronto says "Defense? F*** defense!" in reference to Iavaroni.
Marc Iavaroni isn't anything special as a coach, at least where defense and head coaching are concerned.
Meantime, regarding this series:
Good luck. I mean this honestly. I'm conflicted, because I'm a fan of both styles of play and key players on both teams.
But Phoenix NEEDS this. If they never win a title with Nash, they need to beat Duncan's Spurs at least once and crush THEIR hopes the way they've done to the Suns and their fans. Smack 'em around, beat 'em up and, most importantly, advance to the next round.

Re: STICKY - Suns vs Spurs - Round 2
reasons to be positive about this series
- we are not being coached by dantoni anymore
- amare is now a legit go to guy and nash doesnt have to create 80 percent of the time.
- another must go to guy at the post is jrich.i dont think manu and hill can guard jrich
- nash's nightmare aint around anymore, bowen.
but then again, spurs are spurs. other than having popovich as a coach, they are still well loved by the refs.

We need to use Jason Richardson in the post like we used Boris Diaw in the post in 2008.

Re: STICKY - Suns vs Spurs - Round 2
Did anyone see the rivalry section on Suns.com?
on 2003 it says this:
"Amar'e Stoudemire was named Rookie of the Year in 2002-03, due in large part to the inside presense and above-the-rim game he brought the Suns, after being drafted straight out of high school. Ironically, it was a shot from downtown that first put him on the map in the postseason.
Trailing Game 1 of Phoenix’s Opening Round series against San Antonio in 2003, STAT nailed a dramatic three-point shot to force overtime, which ultimately led to an upset win for the eighth-seeded Suns. "
Wouldn't this be Marbury?

Marbury hit the game-winning floater three. Amare tied it in regulation.
