McGowan Shut Down 1 Week with "Dead Arm"

MLB.com's Jordan Bastian is reporting that the Blue Jays will shut down right handed pitcher Dustin McGowan for one week due to 'dead-arm.' McGowan lasted only one-and-two-thirds innings in a AAA game on Friday, allowing two hits and two walks while topping out at 88 miles per hour on the radar gun

Man, with Morrow being scratched, now this...I'm beginning to think pitchers go to Toronto to die, much like old people go to Florida to die in the red hot sun.

I have a feeling his arm is all but shot (BJ Ryan style) and they are just hoping for a miracle.

I really hope to be proven wrong.

To be honest I didn't have very high expectations for him after surgery.

Well he was going to be delayed by about 3 starts even before this, so it's not a big deal. Remember, he just started pitching in January. He just needs time to build up his arm strength again after a year and half off and that takes time.

It'd be great if MCGowan started pitching in the majors again but at this point, I'm not of the belief that it's going to happen.

I don't know what the hell happened. They said he was looking great as late as late March and suddenly he's on the 15 and then 60 day DL. I've learned my lesson: don't get my hopes up with him. Same with Morrow. Both have diabetes and will probably always be on and off.
