Ryan To Be Fired By Oakland, Will Go To Jets
2nd January, 2008 - 1:28 pm
ESPN - Sources indicate that Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has been told he will be fired this week, following the unit's disappointing performance in 2007, the Oakland Tribune reported.

Ryan, however, appears ready to land on his feet. According to New York-area reports, New York Jets defensive coordinator Bob Sutton is expected to lose his job. And the Tribune reported that according to sources, Ryan will succeed Sutton in New York.

Ryan and Jets coach Eric Mangini were defensive assistants together for four seasons in New England under Bill Belichick. [READ]

First move of the off season and it is a great one, Not only do we get rid of Sutton but we get a guy that actually knows how to run a defense. He has done an amazing job in Oakland and it should only carry over. There is also talks that Nnamdi Asomugha will terminate his contract early and that is only a plus having Ryan here. I love this move.

Good move, I also thought about the possibility of getting Asomugha, would be nasty to pair him with Revis...
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

Not done yet but I hope it happens. Nnamdi has a PO he'll likely decline, not sure if he can get franchised though.

As of last night it is rumored that Ryan will be staying with the Raiders, while its not official that would really suck. I would like to get his brother then from the Ravens.

^Yeah, I'd like to get Rex, but I think he'd want to either stay in BAL or get a HC job somewhere else.

Also, let's hope for Rob to come, we need someone who can actually run a D.

This is a great move, for the Jets. Hopefully this means that they go back to the 4-3, because Vilma just doesn't fit in the 3-4, and he is a great linebacker. I am convinced that either he is traded or they switch schemes, with the first one being the more likely.
