Would you trade Maggette For Dunleavy?

Post#1 » by Chris Cohan » Sun May 2, 2010 11:07 pm

Dunleavy's contract expires this season.
Maggette costs over $30 million for the next 3 seasons.
Salary Protection isn't ALWAYS the wrong move, is it?

Explain why/why not, if you can.
To any Pacers fans chipping in your two cents, love to hear your thoughts.

Pacer fan here, if not for the salary I'd take Maggette over Dumbleavy in a heartbeat.

Doneleavy is practically worthless, but Maggette's 9+ million a year makes him very unappealing when Dun's contract is finally off the books after this coming season.

Right on.
I expect Pacer fan votes to make this a clean NO sweep for the most part.

UPDATE: Early Pacers demands for either this year's lottery pick or Stephen Curry in exchange for dumping the Maggette Albatross Contract.

I still say we have a decent chance at a TPE if most big time FA's stay and Bosh goes to HOU.

Great. More cash savings for Cohan!
Dunleavy > Radmanovich?

I'd pay to watch him and Nellie mix it up during the Cohan et al meltdown for the awesomest unintentionally glorious NBA season in history.

Depending on the sell of the team it could work out perfect, the TPE lasts a year by then we might have someone willing to take salary at draft time next season. Of course I should say I think it is possible because I really don't see alot of FA switching teams this upcoming offseason.

Have you seen the list?
Anyway, this isn't about FA. It's about dumping Maggette.
If you want to make a case that teams will miss out on good wings they can have for cheaper (Morrow, for example) and then will turn to taking Maggette on....

Name one team that will take him with their cap space.
Make sure you list teams that have cap space. Clippers, you say?

Dunleavy's white, raising his value in Indiana and nowhere else... we can't make that deal. I'd definitely do it... but this signing was a great finishing touch to Mullin's legacy..

You've been wrong on everything else today, why not add one more?
Well done.

Rowell signed Jackson. Rowell signed Maggette.

This is getting more embarrassing for the Rowell defenders by the day.

Dunleavy in a heartbeat.

He's not a top 40 player in the NBA (and he's sure to get hurt), but he's got that expiring contract.

Corey Maggette is a reasonably paid top 40 player who might get hurt.
ROWELL used to say stuff like that.

Update from the Pacers board: They'd take Hinrich for Dunleavy over Maggette for Dunleavy.

Ouch.

sounds about right. Maggette is in real danger of never being part of a relevant playoff team in his career. He'll never be a difference maker and he makes enough money that that should be expected.

Granger is Indy's Franchise they wont trade him for Al Jefferson I doubt we'd give what they wanted for him and Maggette isnt on their wish list. No I wouldnt trade Maggette for Dunleavy either I'd rather keep him and see if we can trade him for a better fit in a year or so when we will matter.

Most of us never thought Maggette was a good signing in the first place. You and very few others applauded the move. I don't think he's toxic enough to warrant giving up a first and certainly not Curry to get rid of at this point though. He scores very efficiently and if used sparingly he's not that bad.
