lineup for next season

Post#1 » by eagleye » Sun May 2, 2010 7:18 am

How about this lineup for next season:

Kristic/Collison/Etan Thomas/Mullens
Ibaka/Green/Collison
Jeff Green/Durant/Sefolosha
Kevin Durant/Harden/Sefolosha
Russel Westbrook/Maynor/Harden

The above could be the lineup for facing a team like the Lakers with two 7 foot big man, and

for smaller opponents like GSW have this team:

Ibaka/Kristic/Collison/Etan Thomas/Mullens
Jeff Green/Collison
Kevin Durant/Sefolosha
James Harden/Sefolosha
Russel Westbrook /Maynor

I think the Thunder should try and sign another scorer like Jerry Stackhouse or Mike Miller,to play in the second unit
and maybe try and get Antonio Mcydyess from the SAS and get Theo Ratliff from Charlotte Bobcats

McDyess? Ratliff? Mike Miller? Stackhouse? Durant at SG? What's wrong with you???

Im ok with Westbrook/Maynor at 1.
Im ok with Harden/Thabo at 2.
Im ok with Durant/whoever at 3.

At 4 and 5 we need some changes. Krstic sucks as a starting C.
Also I wouldn't neccesserly put Ibaka in the starting five just yet. He could be a good 6th 7th man playing 25 minutes per game.

I say lets go for a Center and also a 3pt shooter who can stretch the floor in a trade and the our lineup could look something like this:

C: NEW GUY/Ibaka/Collison
PF: Green/Ibaka
SF: Durant/3pt shooter
SG: Thabo/Thabo (could also switch)
PG: Westbrook/Maynor

Sorry, but I dont see Krstic in a Thunder uniform next year. Also, I dont think it makes much sense to keep our 4 draft picks. Trade away at least 2 of them.
Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here we might as well dance!

Jeff Green should not start at PF anymore, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Scott Brooks played Kevin Durant a bunch at the SG position in this series.

Here's my idea

1) Trade the 2 1st's for Michael Beasely
Why? They wait until he relizes his potential and he can be a 6th man for now

2) Sign Udonis Haslem
Why? Vetern experience that can play some Center for them

3) Trade Kristic to the T-Wolves for TPE and future 2nd round pick
Why? They don't need him and its nice to save cash as they have to extend some players soon

New Rotation

PG:Russel Westbrook
SG:Thabo
SF:Kevin Durant
PF:Jeff Green
C:Serge Ibaka

6th: Michael Beasely
7th: James Harden
8th: Udonis Haslem
9th: Eric Maynor
10th: Nick Collison

Since I don't see a new free agent big coming to OKC this offseason, I'd be happy with a small adjustment.

Just swap Green and Thabo for Ibaka and Harden. More defense up front and more offense on the wing. But Ibaka can score a little and Harden can defend a little.

I think that adds more balance to this team.

Interesting thought Slick

Westbrook
Durant
Green
Ibaka
???

Can KD now play the 2? I know he struggled in his early years, but now he's got the scoring range and the defensive skills to guard the 2 (which was his biggest issue IMO)

OR Is his handle too waek for the 2 and will he get his pocket picked alot?

I wouldn't say KD's handles are too weak. He is just far more effective at the 3, IMO.

I just meant weak relative to other SG's

I hope most people would agree with your assessment of Green.
My hope is that playing Durant at SG was just Brooks recognizing how overmatched Green was and the necessity of getting as big as possible to try and slow down Pau. I'm not sure I'd want to see them do that next year... it was tried before and didn't work well. Durant had a hell of a season, I don't want to mess with his game to make up for the shortcomings of Jeff Green.
In addition, what would this mean for Harden and Thabo?

Versus Lakers, everyone was crashing the boards, Thunder could outrun the Lakers and the guards did not have to get back to defend.

They need KD's rebounding from the SF position.

I think most of us agree on a Thabo/Green - Harden/Ibaka swap in the starting lineup.
