Be ready for a tough series is all i'm saying. Get ready for Hack a Howard too! He is shooting a marvelous 36% at the FT line in the playoffs.

All part of his plan.....get the Hawks to foul out their big men early and just beast it at the line.....14/18 FT's in Game 1 of Round 2!

I guess you all forgot we have some big scrub men signed just for this reason in Collins, Zaza, and Joe Smith. Horford won't be the won fouling out.

Yea but like jalen said those scubs won't be getting time on the floor you don't have the luxury...i would understand if your starting center was someone like Theo Ratliff but horford is a big part of your team and it wouldn't be good for you if he's instructed to foul howard if he gets any good look at the basket....you think you could survive with zaza and joe smith playing big minutes against a LEGIT contender?

I'm now rooting for Orlando to win the series 4-2.

Yes of course. We didn't sign Colins and Smith for nothing. We signed them to play bigs like Howard and Shaq in the playoffs. Zaza is a part of our rotation already of the bench.

Chill out ATLBaller, y'all might get a win, maybe 2 if your lucky, but y'all aren't beating Orlando. . . . . even if you use the hack-a-howard thing.

ATL You missed what i'm trying to say....Horford is somebody you need on the floor and you can quote me on this...ATL will not win with Horford in constant foul trouble...Zaza and the scrubs can't emulate what Horford brings to the table..but then again maybe i'm overestimating Horford

Nah. Im just confident. The matchup problem is not just dwight and hartford(sp?).. Williams cant guard VC and on the other side, VC wont spend a lotta energy guardin' his bum arse.

You are definitely correct about Horford. He MUST stay out of foul trouble for us to even remotely have a chance but I also believe Howard MUST stay out of foul trouble for the Magic. We have MUCH better shooters and all around players than the Cats do which is why they still couldn't win even one game with Howard basically a non-factor the whole series. If Howard gets in foul trouble again we can win but it's going to be tough obviously. I believe the Magic are the best team in the playoffs when you all are hitting your 3's so it would still be a miracle for the Hawks either way.

Raja Bell on Jim Rome just said we are nowhere as good as we were last year. That our chemistry and everything last year was so much better and we were firing on all cylinders.

I think over these past days dwight has seen what the refs are calling on him through the film and will adjust accordingly But the point is the reason why he was in foul trouble to begin with was because Charlotte was attacking the rim relentlessly and that is not ATL's game and i just don't see them switching up their style of play this far into the post-season with such little preptime

True we take a lot of perimeter shots much like the Magic do since we have great shooters in JJ, Crawford, Bibby and Marvin but we also attack the rim quite a bit with Horford, JJ, Smooove and Marvin. Don't know what Hawks games you are watching but we were not strictly a jumpshooting team. We have 6 players that can score in double figures every night if needed and we will be attacking the rim much like Charlotte did or we won't have a chance unless of course we make 50% of our jumpshots. Smoove is always attacking the rim btw.

I believe Atl is Tops in the league when it comes to points in the paint.. So they do drive. The thing is that Dwight takes that away from them. Atleast from what I've seen in the last 4 meetings, when the inside isn't working for the hawks they become more of a perimeter team. When the magic played the bobcats, the cats weren't a real good perimeter team so they had to keep driving. Maybe Atl will learn something from the bobcats, and keep the pressure on driving to the basket... Or maybe they won't and continue to do what they usually do, which is like the definition of insanity cause the outcome is not gonna change.

Point is we can score inside and we can score from the perimeter. The key is Horford MUST make his 15-20ft jumpshots which he does regularly now btw to pull Howard away from the basket to limit his rebounding. The good thing is we have a dynamite scorer in Crawford that comes off the bench and just won the 6th man award. He had 2 monster games in game 6 and 7 so he is heating up. It will be interesting to see how this series goes.

despite the topic being slightly derailed, i just wanted to say ATLballer, you seem like a level headed and polite Hawks fan, and if the rest of the Hawks board are like you, I'm looking forward to some good discussion during this series.

i think it will be a good series, and i know the Hawks have what it takes to hustle and surprise a team. the way Orlando handles them will tell a lot about how they'll handle the rest of the playoffs - if they make it.

now, just a little formality....

Sorry, but that stat means nothing as of now.

This was what i was talking about ATL....when i say they don't attack the rim i meant in terms of ORL vs ATL against us you guys don't drive to the basket...who knows why but IMO i just don't see ATL changing the way they play too much....They're pretty much gonna do what got them to this point and then i comes down to Woodson vs Van Gundy...who makes the better adjustments..but like Jalen i'd say at best 5 games at worst 6
