Why do people keep mentioning Doug Collins as a possibility? If it didn't work out last time, why would it work out this time?

Wait a minute, didn't he win 67 games in the season they lost to Golden State Yes they lost to the Warriors in the first round. It was a bad series, no doubt. But again, GS knew Dallas in and out. They matched up extremely well with the Mavericks. Was it acceptable that they lost to Golden State? Of course not. I still think he got a raw deal.

Not to mention Rick Carlisle is doing a bang-up job there!

Never once did he ever draw up a play that worked, he never adjusted properly, he never spoke well, he always seemed confused, why would anyone believe he's some guru who knows how to get his players better? Last summer, Derrick worked with coach Cal, not Vinny, and Randy Brown is in charge of player development. We all know Vinny's a boob and we don't know him personally. Maybe he was some prick who was hard-headed and didn't listen and was always wrong. Who knows? But he had to go, the front office obviously didn't like him personally, so let's move on. We also didn't hire Doug Collins because of the exact OPPOSITE reason, so I don't know why everyone assumes Vinny is just some sweet innocent boy who the Bulls kicked in the mud.

Derrick Rose himself has admitted that VDN helped him become a better player. Granted, D.Rose could of just been saying that to be nice, but one thing I always greatly appreciated about the things Rose said about his relationship with VDN is that those guys watch video TOGETHER all the time.

Having a mind that understands the game the way VDN does (yeah, his coaching was subpar, but he's been around the game for 20 years...he has plenty of things he could show a guard) break down video tape with a young guard who by all admissions isn't that bright can only do wonders for the young guard. If the next coach doesn't do that with Rose, I'm going to be highly pissed.

Agreed. Maybe VDN was an a-hole, maybe not. We honestly do not know, right? So let's not jump to assumptions, one way or another, especially when nothing has come out from any other organization about him being a hothead and a problem.

Also, VDN deserves way more credit for developing Rose than Pax ever will. In fact, DRose still isn't a great last second option either. He's better at it, but he still has some work to do. Also, watching gametape for countless hours and helping Derrick learn his deficiencies goes farther than being a GM forcing the coach to play him, even though he's bad at it.

Let's not forget, the two main players seem to love him. They both thank him and think he has a ton to do with their success.

Last, but not least, if the report is true in which the assistants and VDN were not told he was fired while everyone else knew, that's a real bone to pick with the franchise which prides itself on professionalism. I've been a decent supporter of JR, but if that's the case, him and Pax need to get booed the same way Krause used to be booed in 99.

OK fine, then put it this way - VDN publicly stayed classy, while the management made no such effort, basically trashing and bashing him (literally, lol) from December onwards. I think when stacked up against this front office, it wouldn't be hard for VDN to look better than them (and that says more about our management than it does about VDN).

Perception can sometimes become reality, as many here have been eloquently noting over the past few weeks.

Did they really trash/bash him from December onward? I know they didn't exactly stand behind him when media and fans ahem..where calling for his head, but he remained coach. Really man how often where you calling for Vinnys head and saying how inept our management was for keeping this "clown" around? I guess now that he's on his way out he's no longer a part of that evil empire you rail against in every post.

And NO i'm not sticking up for management, I think they've made more than their fair share of mistakes.. however to pretend to have some inside knowledge of the inner workings of the club because of what you see on the outside is ridiculous. Hell i've seen plenty of people who have a great car and seemingly beautiful house, only to walk inside and be floored by the smell of piss that can't be located do to the crap laying around the place.

But hey keep fighting the man, even when the man does what you railed for after every loss and many of the wins.

David Aldridge just confirmed it on TNT

Bulls really making themselves look like idiots right now. They can't keep any info quiet or in house. I have to commend Vinny on the way he played defense after getting his lunch eaten by Pax. But still Bulls are a PR and management nightmare right now.

I don't get why they look like idiots for firing a bad coach.

its just the way they handled it

word leaks their gonna fire him Tuesday. why would you wait til a date to fire someone if you already know you're giving them the ax. Just do it. firing him today was only because they let it leak aabout the Tuesday deal. Bulls better focus on how this makes them look like a incompetent organization

We look like idiots for passing on Choice A and Choice B two years ago because one was too expensive and the other, we had a cute little friendship to protect with the owner. Then without any further due diligence we pulled a name out of a blue because he had a nice power point and the price was right. And actually he wasn't that horrible, yet ironically we made our decision look worse by not giving him a vote of confidence. Shocked we were that this neophyte without any coaching experience wasn't as good with x's and o's as seasoned coaches. We then thought it would look good if we beat the **** out of him in the locker room, but that didn't work. Oh, and neither of the basketball execs fired him, we left that to our meddling owner, why he is making the decision is beyond me.

You wait so you can do what most pro sports teams do in the off season. Give a press conference announcing the change, that and gives Vinny a chance to clean out his desk/**** in Paxsons.

How could Avery Johnson not be on your list? At this point, he's tops on mine.

because he is a fanatically religious person who pushes his religion onto everyone around him.

thibideau is likely a good defensive coach, or specialist. but so was rod marinelli, and that worked out well for him as a head coach. thibideau is still inexperienced as a head coach.
We have Martell Webster. He's called Kyle Korver here, and we shall love him and squeeze him and call him Ashton. -BrooklynBulls

Really? Show me the quotes that suggest otherwise? How about the articles talking about how Noah spits in the face of VDN's administration and talks back to him like a dog?

Maybe you can show us Rose stating that VDN was an okay coach. Or maybe where he said VDN is useless and he really doesn't coach him.

You think it's highly exxagerated, but you have no proof otherwise.
