How highly do you rate D Jordan??
I don't get to watch much of him, but have heard good things.
What sort of trade value does he have??

We brought him in as a 2nd round pick with tons of potential on a minimum contract. He was known to be extremely raw coming in and not expected to see the court much at all in his first couple of seasons. Injuries gave him an opportunity to get on the court and he's ahead of his original anticipated progress. With that said, he's still inconsistent. Sometimes he'll show flashes that make you think he's the center of the future and will make Kaman expendable. Other times he looks completely lost.

Nobody is untradeable in the league, but we just don't have any kind of incentive to consider trading him at the moment. It's not like he's making a ton, so we'd have to move him and other players in order to make a trade work (under normal circumstances). If he's the difference maker in us getting a serious talent or not, then he's movable. We're not going to move him in a lateral trade for a marginal return though.

The guy is a terrible free throw shooter and makes some pretty silly mistakes, but he's getting better and better each game and his progress is way ahead of where everyone anticipated right now. In my opinion, if he can get his FT percentage up, I'd think he be a much better center for us than Kaman in a season or two.

But yeah, like what mkwest said, his potential is very high and he isn't costing us much. Kind of hard to trade a guy like him.

Deandre Jordan only has two years of professional basketball under his belt. We did draft him in the second round, but prior to the draft it was rumored that he could have possibly been taken in the first round. Jordan was still available in the second round when the Clippers were making their pick, so Dunleavy acquired him due to the potential he saw. As MkWest said Deandre is still pretty raw. His defense is still a work in progress and he is horrible at the free throw line. However, he has a lot of positives: he can finish pretty well, and during his last games this year a double double was pretty much a given for him.
During most situations I would say keep DJ, but since we lack a Small Forward and could use a good Point Guard we really should look to swap with some teams. Portland and Oklahoma are stocked with young players, trading for one of their players would allow us to get equal value in return and not spend much cap space.

I like him, he seems like a good guy (from his blog) and is very athletic with long arms to counteract his thinner build.

I don't care about his offensive skills, if he could learn to be a solid, consistent defender and capitalize on his physical tools, he would be a starter in this league. As a starter he could get 10 PPG off o-boards, hustle/garbage plays, and transition alone. If he learned to make half his free throws, or 1 semi-reliable low post move, it would be bonus as far as I'm concerned (I mean that in a good way.)

He'll never be a great NBA player or anything, but he has potential as a defensive, athletic center for sure. If he could make some progress this season, I would much rather trade Kaman.

True if we can really get something good in return we could trade him, but I'm for keeping DJ and developing him. I think he will become a very good defensive center in this league.

If some team is really, really high on the guy, then I would take offers. DJ has a lot of potential but I think there is a clear ceiling as well. But I wouldn't give him up for a late round 1st or something like that though.

Dude added a lot of weight. I think hes up to like 270 now and its all muscle. I think he has the potential to be a solid center in the league for a long time. Maybe a 10 point/ 10 rebound/ 2 block type of guy.
