I've seen it, and in the NBA too. Recently, I think. But I just can't remember exactly who it was. Certainly it must be rare though. But as others have already said, its the logical move for all of them in this particular instance.

If VDN were smart, he'd go the Mo Cheeks route and get an assistant job someplace before trying to be a head coach in the NBA again.

Or he could coach the kids down at the local YMCA, if he was truly set on being a head coach.

Yep it's happened many times. NBA and college. Usually it's a good thing, as in, in many (most?) cases the fired peson doesn't want to be anywhere near the people who fired him.

Now, let's not prevent this from a negative spin on him being there. Especially when he could be at Trader Vic's, possibly going home with a waitress. Just like he always does.

Avery Johnson did so when the Mavs fired him. But it sounds like that was a bad rumor, there's only one chair there right now.
