Jordan Farmar as possible back up PG?

Post#1 » by DangerCurtis » Tue May 4, 2010 8:17 pm

While we all would like Steve Blake to sign back on with the Clippers for a few more seasons, there's a good chance he won't since he's arguably the best back up PG in the league and will probably receive some offers to start on different teams.

But anyways, since it doesn't look like the Lakers will resign Farmar, what do you guys think of him as the back up PG to Baron Davis? Young, inexpensive, LA kid, NBA title, and a lot of playoff experience.

Speaking as a UCLA alum...I don't think he's very good at all actually.

He's not quick/dynamic enough for his small size, and not much of a playmaker IMO.

The Laker bench is poor.

I think he could be a possibility depending on how the off season shakes out. He would probably want to stay in LA, assuming the Lakers dont bring him back.

I'd be ok with it, aside from the fact that we would be taking the laker's leftovers.

It's possible that he could be interested to signing with us if the Lakers don't want him. Personally I hope that we can keep Blake. We will just have to see how things turn out in free agency.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

He would really excel if the new coach implements a fast break type of offense. The triangle offense really limits what Farmar could do offensively. He is a below average defender though.

I'd rather have a backup point guard that comes in and sets up the team, as opposed to one who thinks he can make every shot he takes. Would easily prefer to bring back Livingston to be the backup, with Anthony Johnson being the veteran third string point guard. Or give Mike Taylor another shot to give us some highlights.
