Re: Calipari....
Nah there is a mutual disinterest in Calipari between management and John.
On another note, if Pat Reilly comes back, I would give Spoelstra a call. Yes, he had Dwane Wade, but on paper that team is worse than the Nets if you subtracted Wade. I feel Spoelstra had something to do with that too. He wouldn't be at the top of my list, but he'd probably be top 5 on my "realistic coaches we could hire" list.

I like Spoelstra.
I assume you're asking about Cal because of the report about his interest in the Chicago job. I'm starting to believe all the stories that this guy is a pure scum bag and a really overrated coach. He was just saying how there is no way he'd be interested in the NBA and the Kentucky is his dream job and best job in the world, now he is intrigued by the Bulls? And its funny that he likes the potential of the team when thats one of the things everybody is writing when they talk about the Nets. I guess he knows to keep his mouth shut about it because the Nets have no interest in him.

I like the guy and all, definitely has coaching ability...I still think it caters to the college ranks...we've seen him in Jersey...I dunno...I'm still not convinced he was the only Kobe believer and his opinion was vastly overlooked during the draft that year...but he's Italian, so he gets a pass from me...I would never be dissapointed if got hired, the potential is there for him to be a true NBA coach...I just worry about his track record and if he can actually get the job done and be NBA championship calibar coach...
Czar anyone?

Dont know why there is ZERO speculation about the Czar in the media. He might be the most qualified coach out there, great fit for the this team and should be one of the top options.

1a) Ettore Messina
1b) Mike Kzrzewski
3) Tom Thibodeau
4) John Calipari
5) Everyone else
I'm not a fan of Cal's work in the college game. In short, I think he's a slimeball. BUT, he did a nice job here in NJ with a ragtag bunch. His specialty is massaging egos while stroking his own, so an opportunity to coach a star-studded team with Harris, Lopez and possibly Wall and LeBron would be his ideal fit IMO. My biggest gripe about him as an NBA coach is that I think he's more of a self-promoter than a winner.

Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

there is no doubt about the self-promotion...but he deserves a decent amount of credit with what he has accomplished...if anything putting a team together, recruiting, being able to find chemistry within a group in short period of time, no matter how competitve his team is...he did that here in Jersey for a bit, though it didnt work out, I think he also wore out his welcome...
please define slimeball...lol

Re: Calipari....
WoW! Cal is a shark.
Now Kentucky is discussing a new deal for Cal.
LOL!!!! Make Money!!!
I just want a Coach that will make this team better. Not experiment on the team. We had that for too many years. Thibodeau seems to have an angle, defense. Hopefully if we get him, he has a system and philosophy that can help us. JVG and others are really high on Thibodeau. As an assistant he has definitely been behind some really good teams. If thorn can take a chance on an idiot like Frank, I dont see why Thibodeau shouldnt get a chance. JVG also put in a plug saying that Thibodeau has had success coaching big men. I say Thibodeau for NETS COACH!!!!!
