As the 16th overall pick in 2004 NBA Draft, Kirk Snyder spent four seasons riding the pine for various NBA teams. Yesterday, not three years removed from his time in the League, Snyder, 26, was convicted of assault and burglary. He was sentenced to three years in prison.

Sad story all around.

To be fair, the guy started 71 games and played over 3500 minutes. I'm not sure I'd call that "riding the pine." He did his fair share of sitting, but he also got a lot of chances to play.

But agreed: sad story.

I remember something about when he went to the Twolves they ran this special on him during half time of a Jazz game against the Twolves about how his attitude had changed. He apologized to Sloan during or prior to that game for his behavior while he was a member of the Jazz, he went on to claim how he had grown up and was now a changed man.

What is so sad about someone who breaks into the house of another person, beats the hell out of them, and then gets sentenced to prison for it?

I know why you guys are saying it is sad, and it is. But, the punishment fits the crime. Bipolar or not. The temporary insanity for being bipolar junk doesn't fly very well when you consider that he was sane enough to put a hood on to conceal his identity.

I think the sad part is not that he's going to jail (he deserved that, IMHO), but the sad part is how could someone hit the jackpot (being in NBA, making millions) and throw everything away.

Thats a waste.
