Rich McKay was offered a two-year contract extension with a raise by Falcons owner Arthur Blank to remain as the team president, two people with knowledge of the situation confirmed. Blank decided to strip McKay of his general manager title two weeks ago.
The deal has been agreed to in principle, but some details are still being completed. Once signed, McKay would be under contract through 2010. The Falcons declined comment, which is typical until contracts are consummated.
