I like Wale somewhat and Jcole a lot, but I'm a fan of these heads that were the young cats on the come up when I was growing up...now they're seasoned vets and put out music that is crazy and they haven't lost themselves following a fad. I just texted a bunch of the older hip hop heads I know telling them that Jada came out with a mixtape that is HIS style. It sounds like it belongs 10 years in the past because it's not Drake or Weezy singing, it's not all swag like NY rappers nowadays and it's not chopped and screwed wannabe nonsense...it's rugged, real HIP HOP. It reminds me of what Raekwon just did in that Jada stayed true to himself as an artist and killed this!

But...question...where the hell is Styles?

This was Jadakiss Mixtape and he had like 1 Styles Back and forth track called Top 5 Dead or Alive on the Mixtape. You can go tot that same website (Datpiff.com) and search Styles P in Mixtapes then Sort by "Most Recent" to get some up to date stuff on him or others

I will be taking a peep on this thanks for the drop. Was there ever any doubt? Lox is coming soon.

I've been online taking in some oldie but goodies type music recently. Doing the Old Soft Rock...R&B routine....lol. There are a couple sites I like to hit up for streaming playlists. I was wondering what sites do you all hit up to get random hits in a playlists or radio streaming channels?

Pandora is my common spot, simple enough but dated music. I use Youtube for making my own playlists. Hip Hop DX sometimes has good stuff. I stumbled upon something called stereomood that was pretty dope. You picked a mood and it had playlists for the mood, which had many genres and music I'd never heard.

I've been using

Jango for Auto Random Playlists...Type in an Artist and is just goes.

Like I chose Jay-Z the other day but got hit up with a lot of AZ material....Dude is so nasty when he really wants to be

Then for soft Rock I typed in Billy Joel and got all kinds of classics

Then for R&B I did New Edition ditto

I use last fm.....for instrumentals along with jamglue

I'll check out stereo mood

I gotta peep jango. I typed Little Brother into Pandora and it went 2 hours without need for a skip (though there were instrumentals which aren't for everyone). R&B I usually go with Musiq Soulchild but I've been thinking about searching Keith Sweat or Immature haha

I'll do Pandora too. Some stream sites are blocked where I work at due to bandwidth issues and our Network Engineers controlling everything(SIGH!). Then again I'm supposed to working and not chatting or talking on blogs and forums....lol

But on Jango just yesterday I got hit up with a lot of Immature....Hi-Five....and Soul 4 Real. The sound Quality is off the charts. What I also like about it is it streams live performances of some tracks with no delays. The only bad part about it is that it requires registration so you will get prompted to close the window to continue or Register to avoid it.

Does datpiff go random or are restricted to exclusive artists playlists? Like If I'm trying to listen to artists that are close in style of music can I type in anyone of them but get music streamed from all of them?

Like if I type Cormega will I get streamed 90% Cormega tracks or will I get a mix of him/Nas/AZ/Jay-Z/Rakim/Raekown

It can go different ways you just hav to try it out..
1. you search the artist in that box to the right for mixtapes
2. you can sort by relevance(artist name on most of the tracks), Most Recent (arist name on some tracks maybe more but it it the most recent with his/her name attached to it)
3. Click on the mixtape to Listen
4. download the mixtape if you wish (Max 5 per day from yor free acount)

It's pretty easy and usefull for me because everyone wants the mixtapes from my phone

This MixTape was very good although there is just a tad bit/too much recycled material. But serious track 16 on Champ Is Here Part 3 is nasty. There are about 5-6 solid tracks no question and of course he hasn't lost anything.

My dude right here!!

I got Sandman's press released album from his agent and it's pretty good. Definitely worth the picking up.

I was also sent this press release info
Homeboy Sandman:
He's not a teacher anymore, but he taught public high school special education for two years, and he still takes every opportunity to get into classrooms and talk about conscious living as well as conscious listening. He did an exclusive for peter rosenberg on hot 97 last year called "fuel," that was all about bad food in the hood and it got AMAZING feedback.

Teaching is part of the reason he became an emcee. He saw that kids in the hood aren't listening to their parents. they aren't listening to teachers. they're listening to rappers. point blank period. He was working so hard to reverse the negative things they were learning through hip hop, until it occurred to him that the best way would be to make positive hip hop for them to soak in.

during his time in law school he recognized the same thing. He focused on criminal law and education law. social good has always driven him. again, it became obvious that while working on the legal and educational side to try and solve social ills constantly reinforced by media isn't a complete waste of time, creating media alternatives was a more direct solution.

From the perspective of his diet (he is a strict Vegan), his conscious eating has coincided exactly with the most productive time in his life, both creatively and otherwise.

even more than being a conscious and socially charged rapper, consciousness and social change is actually the reason why he raps in the first place. it's that type of thing that allows him to make songs like "Gun Control" in effect sabotaging a chance at what many people would view as success in the industry, towards the purpose of consciousness and social good.

matter of fact, there is an interesting anecdote about the "Gun Control" track:

-Sandman was a finalist in LOUD Records competition last year for a chance to win a deal and 50 Grand.
all finalists were given a Jake One beat to make a song with, the beat has a gun noise in it, he does not rap over gun noises-- he hate guns and he hates violence and he tried to refuse the beat on moral grounds and was denied.

In turn, he made a song about how wack it is that guns and gun noises are so prevalent in hip hop music and the song becomes a major player as it captured number 11 in the top 25 of 2010 on Real Late on Hot 97. In essence, he lost the battle, but won the war.

His album will be out on 6-1-10

This is an Interesting Interview

I really liked when he brought DMX into this interview because I've tried to mention his name on several occasions when discussing Hip-Hop greats and perception of an Artist. He also put Wayne on Blast.

IMO he is the hardest rapper to rank. Never crazy with lyrics, but always put out great music. He had two albums debut at number one in the same year, second to do it behind Tupac. IMO he essentially had rap on lock 98-2000. He always brought an untouched energy to every track. He also had a couple of duds for albums.

Not really sure where he fits. For me personally Id have him in the 10-16 range because when he is on he is damn good.

I think he's the only Rap Artist to have 5 Consecutive Release Albums go #1 on the Billboards in history. But ask someone how many Classics he had and they will struggle to give you a definitive number. From this interview 50cent basically says he sold records or built his fame from saying he got shot in his records, DMX was 50cent before him.... but his timing may have been slightly off. Although you could say RR did brand themselves to an extent. He said Common/Mos/Talib were Drake/Wale/Kudi before they arrived but no one cares about a conscience rapper. They either want aggression or gimmicks

This was some good stuff in this interview

So was this. It's nice to get rappers in a real element

Did FAt Joe just say wayne was the best rapper alive now? You know that is some BS.. I hate these guys trying to be so politically correct, so they won't mess up their chance at a colabo, down the road.. If joe really means that, then I have lost some respect for that cat.. I mean come on...

As far as DMX, you are right, his timing may have been off a bit, but He was a straight up beast.... in your face style.. No holds barred..

Yea I liked his analysis of those rappers except for the Wayne part. Put a gun to Joe's head and ask him who he truly thinks is the best rapper alive and Wayne will just be an afterthought. Definitely being politicaly correct being that he does many tracks with Wayne.
