And in a few years, we will have gotten to see EG make a team competitive, get the point of needing to blow it up, get the chance to build it up, make the team competitive (maybe playoffs), get to the point of needing to blow it up and then get the chance to build it up again.LyricalRico wrote:Dat2U wrote:What more is there to see?
We haven't seen Ernie make a team competitive, get the point of needing to blow it up, and then get the chance to build it up again. That's what he's going to get to do here starting this summer.

70% for firing Ernie on the boards, if it can happen to EJ, it can happen to Ernie

Oh for cryin' out loud people, this is the internet! If you can't engage in overblown squabbles over varying opinions on mutual interests here, there's simply nowhere else to do it.

Ok no, seriously, nice job rallying things guys, the odds were against it, but you pulled it off.

I'm impressed.

I thought that's what mother-in-laws are for.

Step 1 in creating the right culture in an organization: stop rewarding mediocrity.

Those attendance banners were an embarrassment - arguably, the most embarrassing banner in all of professional sports (with the Heat's #23 Jordan banner as a close second).
I'll also assume, then, that we've seen the last of the "we got to the second round!" tees being gleefully passed around the Phone Booth.

was walking around the Verizon Center with Dick Patrick today and I asked one of the senior executives at the building about the Mystics attendance banners. And after some discussion we decided to take them down.
The only banners we should display revolve around winning a division or conference or league championship.
So to all of the folks who have emailed me your thoughts over the years about the attendance banners– as a heads up know they are no longer up in the rafters.
I hope we can put up some real championship banners based on team performance soon.
If you are unhappy about this change yell at me and only me.
Thanks…Go Mystics.

Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Re: Put Yourself in Ted's Shoes
Nice move. Which makes me wonder what Pollin was thinking by putting the banners up there in the first place.
Let me ask this. Once somebody was taking pot shots at Pollin, and Stern defended him saying that he was the longest tenured owner in the league. Talking about damning with faint praise -- if the best people can say about me when I'm 90 years old is that I was around a long time without killing anybody, just shoot me.
With all due respect to the deceased, was Pollin responsible for a lot of the team's struggles over the past few decades?
