MIN Trades:
Ramon Sessions
ORL Trades:
JJ Redick (S&T) ~3M per
Rights to Fran Vazquez
Orlando gets a legit back-up point, as J-Will's 1-year contract is up, and he might retire.
MIN gets a bench 3-point threat, and picks up Vazquez's rights on the small chance that he could be convinced to come over when Rubio does.
What do you think?

Also note that this deal would probably be done after a Love or Jefferson trade, increasing the available minutes for Vazquez. I don't think he'd want to come over and sit on the bench. PLUS, as the talent coming out of Europe continues to increase, it would be good to be known as a haven for international players (like us actually giving Darko minutes after all the failed promises he received from other teams).

A nice attempt, but a no go for me. I don't think Vazquez's rights are worth diddly. Sounds like he has no interest in the NBA. With Ellington in the fold we have no need for Reddick. I would rather just dump Sessions for cap space if this is what it came down to.

What have you heard lately on Vazquez? He might be more inclined to come over if Ricky is. Plus maybe Kahn can use his Jedi Mind Trick on him and he'll say, "I want to come to the NBA and play for the Minnesota Timberwolves"?? I haven't seen much on Fran lately so maybe his mind could be changed?

Re: MIN - ORL
Um, if the Redick deal is $3mil per with only the first year guaranteed, I'd do this pretty quickly.
Sessions isn't part of our long term. Redick could actually play back-up point guard next to turn. Make an entry pass then cut to the corner and spot up, not too tough. Maybe Rubio can convince Frannie to come over with him. Vazquez is considering one of the best big men in Europe.

The Magic wouldn't really have any depth at shooting guard if it's just Carter (he's already 33 years old by the way). They need a sharpshooter too. The Magic led the NBA in 3 pointers made in part because of Howards presence on the court, so it would make sense to simply keep Redick to score easy buckets.

Re: MIN - ORL
^ they still have Pietrus and Barnes that can play minutes at the 2. Barnes maybe not so much because he seems like a basic 3, but Pietrus would be fine there I'd imagine.

I considered that, but Carter is 33, Barnes is 30, and Pietrus is 28. Not horribly old, but also take into account that these guys are practically their only swingmen if they trade Redick. If they bump Barnes or Pietrus to shooting guard, it means Orlando just makes a hole at small forward then. Just one injury could mess up their roster. When VC went down, Redick became a decent replacement and again Redick scores easy buckets thanks to Orlando's frontcourt.

Agreed, if we could bring out even the slightest interest from Vazquez.

Re: MIN - ORL
Vazquez is a former 1st round pick. Does he still carry an off-season cap hold like Rubio does, or does that go away after 3 years when the rookie salary restrictions are lifted?
It's an ok deal in terms of value, but it's awful stylistically. Other issues, it assumes Jason Williams isn't back for Orlando, which is far from a given considering how well he played his season. It has us giving up our backup (if not starting) point guard, leaving us with only Flynn on the roster. And it pull the quintessential Orlando swingman away from them in exchange for Sessions, a terrible 3 point shooter.
Even if both teams like it, it just seems too implausible to even consider. Howsabout we make a play for Gortat and try to get the rights to Vazquez tacked on there?

if Kahn can convince Fran to dump his girlfriend, which Fran himself apparently is not capable of, I might consider it.

Fran Vázquez is 27 and now is a made player. I can't see any problem (except buyout clause) for see him one year in the NBA.
But everybody could watch him play yesterday, and I sure Orlando is trying to talk with him today for know his plans. Fran was a trifle yesterday, when his NBA's value is near to ZERO, not today. The team who want him, must scratch his pocket (spanish expression). Yesterday, you could buy Fran's rights with five empty Toblerone bundles, not today.

I want to see a picture of Fran's wife/girlfriend. I feel like she probably never smiles and sucks the life out of Fran.
