If he was due for a new contract, I think he's worth the MLE. I really think the problem is that our 4 best players are basically guys who lives in the paint. Duncan is a postup guy. Manu, Tony, and Jefferson are slashers. If Manu and Tony are gonna be slashers, that means we need a shooter at SF. I think Jefferson just doesn't fit in well with the roster that we have.

I'm convinced that RJ needs to be in an uptempo offense to be effective. After his athleticism starts to decline, he's basically going to be good for nothing. I can't stand to look at RJ's jump shot. It makes me cringe.

Yeah, I mean at this point I think a SF like Jared Dudley who is a hustle guy and pretty good 3 point shooter will fit in better than Richard Jefferson especially at the starting SF position with Tony and Manu. I understand we wanted athleticism at the SF position but I just don't think that fits well. If we need athleticism, it's got to be at the PF/C position. Not at the SF. We can live with having a bruce bowen type player (3 point shooter, defense) at SF if we have some athleticism at the PF position. I think someone like Tyrus Thomas can be a very nice addition for us if he's available.

I'd rather a 74 year old Bowen than RJ.

He is worth the exact amount of his expiring contract which could be an asset in the summer or at the trade deadline. We have to find a wing before that or get one in return when he's gone. I can't begin to explain how disappointing it's been, especially when I was one of the biggest fans of this trade even though I knew he is not the defensive stopper we were looking for. It's really inexplicable how a guy who has arguably more offense than Shawn Marion is almost identical in his lack of production once he is in a new system. After all, they didn't exactly run and gun last season in Milwaukee and RJ was still playing nice there.

Our backcourt is set, we need a big to pair with TD or a small forward with a pulse.

consider this trade proposal:

spurs trade: richard jefferson, antonio mcdyess, 2010 1st round pick
spurs get: yao ming and trevor ariza

rockets trade: yao ming and trevor ariza
rockets get: richard jefferson, antonio mcdyess, 2010 1st round pick

* spurs play half-court, so is yao.
* ariza is a big athletic 6'8" G/F. excellent defender.
* tradeChecker salaries seem to be okay for spurs to handle.

* rockets to go on rebuilding around jordan hill.
* win-win for both teams

spurs starting lineup would be:

pg - tony parker
sg - george hill
sf - trevor ariza
pf - tim duncan
c - yao ming

manu ginobili as the 6th man

pick your poison: who would people double-team? duncan or yao?

Duncan, because Yao would be injured.

Not sure why the Spurs didn't push hard for Ariza last summer. Ariza would have fit nicely with your guys' system.

Yup, Ariza's game reminds me of Bowen's. Minus the whole goon factor.

Why ask us? you should go contact RC Buford if you want an answer. We don't make the decisions for the Spurs. If this is for the fun of your Dynasty Mode NBA LIVE or whatever, then yeah go ahead and do it. Better yet, trade Jefferson for Lebron James. Fix all the problems.

Jefferson is about the same as he was when the Spurs traded for him. He had a worse season, but his contract is expiring, so it kinda evens things out.
