1 - Majerle
2 - Laimbeer
3 - Budenholzer, mostly due to awesome sound of his name
4 - Williams
5 - Thibs (afraid about his offensive inability)
6 - Casey
7 - Mitchell
8- Collins
9 - Avery

Based on the pesonalities/toughness they would bring to the team, I would go this route. Williams is an interesting candidate as well. Do not want anything to do with Mitchell or Casey. So tough to gauge as we don't actually get the feedback from the interview process to get a sense of intangibles, but I'm pleased that Majerle and Laimbeer have been thrown into the candidate list.

1/2 - Majerle/Laimbeer
3 - Thibs
4/5 - Collins/Avery
6 - Williams

IMO, we are looking at Stefanski's final hire, and any of these unestablished names won't be around long enough to make much of impact. I expect 1 year and then out... maybe 2 years if the new GM keeps them around.

Honestly, its not the greatest job opportunity, but its the type of job you have to take to get your foot in the door as an NBA coach. Sort of like an audition, since its unlikely a long term job.

But maybe that is what people said when Sloan or Pops started?

Excited that Laimbeer is mentioned (considering that campaign started on this board a while ago).

Cut the deal today and move forward.

Thank god Laimbeer has finally been added to the interview list.
I had been pulling for this guy before the season started.
i wonder why Patrick Ewing is not being considered. I know Stan Van Gundy can't coach and Pat is in a bad situation but so are the 76ers..
Also who is Mark Jackson to decline a job interview. He has no coaching experience and expects someone to tap him on the shoulder.
Anyway this is the 1st good move they have made in my opinion.
Make them respond to your way of playing not the other way around

Laimbeer and Iguodala should mesh well. Bill coached females for years.

I agree, its a tough situation to come into, however, if its likely that Dileo is the new guy, and he's part of the picking process, then maybe he feels comfortable with this guy.

i'm super happy right now Laimbeer's at least on the list.

I would love to bring Bill Laimbeer into the mix. He's the kind of guy that would bring intregrity and toughness into the locker room. There are no days off, and quite frankly guys like Sam would be in for a wake-up call. So would Speights too.

Speights NEEDS the ass kicking. Worst player of the 2nd half of last year.

You gotta wonder if Stefanski reads RealGM, I feel like anything we've ever said/recommended he's took to consideration

Out of all those I'd choose Majerle.

I was a huge Dan Majerle fan back in the 90s. As a Knicks fan, I had to like him a little less when he joined the Heat, but I still rooted for him. I think he would be a great fit as head coach...I just wish he wasn't going to the Sixers :) . I always said that if he became head coach, I'd pick that team as my "2nd team" but that'd be tough for me with the Sixers in the same division as the Knicks.

Still though, I hope Thunder Dan gets this opportunity and I guess I'd try to root for the Sixers (as long as they're not playing the Knicks).

Either one (Laimbeer/Majerle) I'd be okay with.

Dear Sir,

With your astute knowledge of the game and how closely you have followed the Sixers this season, I would be interested as to the specifics reasons behind such an endorsement. Please include the experiences he has had both as a player and a coach that would make Mr. Majerle the number one candidate over many of the other fine candidates as the best fit for the Sixers.

Thank you very much and have a nice day.

Dear kid,

I wouldn't necessarily call it an endorsement. It is more or less picking someone out of an unexciting group of candidates.

Are there 6ers fan's anywhere else in the world who care enough about the team to give a rip about the coaching search?

I wouldn't be pissed if we hired Laimbeer, but so many people here seem to want him so badly. It's not like he's proven anything.

At this point though I think hiring an unproven coach is the best way to go. The Sixers truly need a coach with pedigree, but one isn't going to be available. Plus, the next coach the team hires most likely won't be here for more than 2 or 3 years anyway. So might as well just take a gamble on an up and comer. If he works out then great, but if not at least you probably get another lotto pick out of the deal.

That video psyched me up. The intensity, the passion, the X's and O's. With Bill Laimbeer on the sidelines, you know you've got a top notch X's and O's guy.
