OT: Ike is going pro

Post#1 » by LUKE23 » Tue Jan 8, 2008 5:09 am

Not cool and I don't think he's making a good decision. He had an average year, I don't think he's a lock for the first, with a strong senior campaign he would be.

I can't blame him

Say he goes high or mid second round this years vs going mid-late first round next year, we aren't talking about a massive difference in money. Plus, look at both Langford/Henry tearing their ACL, it could possibly happen to Ikegwuonu if he stayed and then who knows where he'd get drafted.

Corners with any ability that produce in the NFL get paid very well. He's got the size, speed, and skill to make it in the pros IMO, why not start getting paid for it?

If I'm not mistaken, there is a pretty big money gap between the early 2nd and late first (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). He'd make more money in the next five years even if he didn't make a dime next year and then went first, over going pro this year and going in the second.

To each his own, I just think for his and the team's benefit he should come back.

With a strong combine it only takes one GM to forget all about his mediocre season and draft him in the first round.

I doubt Ike was ever going to be a 1st round pick. I don't even know if he'll be playing CB in the NFL. A move to FS might be in his future.

I'm for this move. I'm for any strengthening of the draft class of the Packers biggest position of need.

All the other Wisconsin teams, college and pro, must make sacrifices to ensure the Packers success.

I also support giving Mo Williams a try at nickel back and Prince a look at DT, if necessary.

Ike is an idiot. When you look at the corner from Kansas and then Jenkins from Ohio State and compare them to Ike there is a major drop off in every aspect of their game

I couldn't agree with you more. He will be a day 1 pick, but right now I don't see how he would be any higher than a mid-second round pick with all the CB talent this year.

Brent Moss

You can say well that kid screwed up, not a fair comparison. But if he wouldve went a year earlier he may have still screwed up but atleast made some cash.

Take the guaranteed money, you can always go back to college to get a degree.....if you arent smart enough to get back into school, I doubt you ever deserved a degree to begin with.
