Min-Ind-LaC

Post#1 » by Timberpuppy » Tue May 11, 2010 2:03 am

With all the K.Love trade talk...

Min Gives: K.Love, R.Gomes, R.Sessions
Min Gets: D.Granger, D.Jordan

Ind Gives: D.Granger, J.Foster
Ind Gets: C.Kaman, E.Gordon

LaC Gives: C.Kaman, E.Gordon, D.Jordan
LaC Gets: K.Love, R.Gomes, R.Sessions, J.Foster

... and with all the Euro talk...

G- Rubio/Flynn
G- Turner/Ellington
F- Granger/Brewer
F- Jefferson/Pekovic
C- Milicic/Hollins

At the very least it's a solid video game line-up... NBA2K11

Pacers will pretty much say no to ANY trade offer for Granger. What they want is players to put around him.

Welcome aboard by the way.

Not terrible for any of the teams......but LAC doesn't have a need for Love with Griffin, and IND doesn't have a need for Kaman with Hibbert.

What you meant to say is this is terrible for everyone EXCEPT the Wolves. Neither the Pacers nor the Clippers have incentive to do this.

I like the idea without the Clippers and suggested something similar on another board, maybe this one as well. The idea included 16 and 23 for 10 also. The rationale is Indy needs to almost start over and use Grainger to get multiple pieces and picks, including a PG like Sessions.

I think any MN fan would love the trade but why would IND or LA do that? They definitely don't get enough out of the deal, and we have so many more assets that we could throw in that they wouldn't accept that small of a deal.

I don't think IND will give up Granger to begin with, but it would have to be a better deal than that. I think we should offer something like:

MIN OUT: Love, Sessions/Flynn, Gomes, AND #16
MIN IN: Granger, Contract they want to shed

That would be closer and I still don't think it nets Granger. No matter what his real value is, we would have to consider what his value is to THEM, which is certainly inflated.

Again, I love the idea, but its a hard sell for Indy (and maybe LA).

If the Clippers and Pacers need more... Minny can give Ind the #16 and the LaC the #23... but Minny could be giving-up too much now?

Peezo brings up a good point with Grainger's value to Indiana. Would they feel adding someone like Ed Davis (not a PG heavy draft so they look at PF) is enough to wait patiently for Ford, Dunleavy, Murphy, and Foster to expire in order to bring in some help for Grainger in FA and next years draft.

Exhibit A:
TJ Ford (exp)
Rush, Jones
Grainger, Dunleavy(exp)
Ed Davis, Murphy (exp), Hansborough, McRobets
Hibbert, Foster (exp)

Or would Love, Flynn, Gomes, and #16 for Grainger set them better as they fill PG and PF holes and have two picks in a good draft for wings and still have the expirings.

Exhibit B:
Flynn, TJ Ford (exp)
X. Henry/J. Anderson, Rush, Jones
George/Hayward, Gomes, Dunleavy(exp)
Love, Murphy (exp), Hansborough, McRobets
Hibbert, Foster (exp)

Timberpuppy, you raise an intersting point. I don't think we would want to deal both the 16 and 23 because I think then we're giving away a whole lot, but I think it might make the trade go. For a team with no first next year, giving up potetentially two first rounders in a row (Flynn and Love), and two picks, I just don't think we could do it.

I think that we definitely have a glut at a position of need for them (PG) and that might help to facilitate the trade. They could really expedite the rebuild if they took a Flynn at PG, Love at PF, solid role player/vet (gomes), and filled the wings with the numbers 10 and 16. If we could find a way to make them take that package, I'd be all for trying to add a potential all-star like Granger.

Granger is Base Year Compensation, none of these deals work until 7/1, and gomes will be traded or cut before then.

Terrible for LAC, very iffy for Indiana.
Nice thought though.
