So.....not really how we suspected this season to start, atleast not how i thought it would. currently sitting at 14-18 behind both the Pirates and the Reds, finishing a 6 game road trip against them and going 1-5 on it...thats pathetic.
so some changes need to be made, but what? some have said FIRE LOU. but i dont really get what that will do besides a quick pick me up and shot in the arm for the team. and who gets hired? bring Ryno up? i dont think hes ready. give alan trammel another try? hes failed in the past...the coach isnt the problem. Lou hasnt made that many bad coaching decisions that i have noticed, yes hes has made some and i get that.
Is it time to re-build? Trade away Dlee and Aram for prospects? what kind of prospects could we nab with an aging first baseman and an oft-injured 3rd baseman? plus everyones going to be going for Adrian Gonzalez and Prince when the deadline comes around.
WAIT IT OUT...if we can somehow stay around .500 and somewhere between 3-5 games back we will be able to trade for a quality bullpen arm who is on a bad team and is willing to do it for prospects. (H Bell) comes to mind right away (assuming they start to lose soon) Our starting pitching has been very good, even silva and gorzo have been a nice suprise, if wells and demp can keep it up eventually were going to hit a hot stretch where the pen and the bats and the starters all click.
we need a serious bullpen arm. other then that dlee and rami need to hit and i think were fine. no hasty moves are needed yet. just calm down everyone and let the cream rise to the top.
plus hey! he have star castro, and colvin, and geo. a pretty good young core. if nothing else lets wait a few years. jk lol

it appears this team is going nowhere. why keep lou? fire him and send a message. might even be a spark, who knows? ill settle for trammel for now.

Re: My thoughts and suggestions for the 2010 Cubs
Who knows what to do or make of this season? I don't think Lou is the problem or at least not one significant enough to make any difference long term if he's replaced. Being a Cub fan in MN at least I've been spared some misery by the lack of games on WGN.
I think right now the best course is just to wait it out for the next month, hope Lee and Ramirez get it together (which I think would have the biggest effect) and if not then look at rebuilding or at least dumping some vets (which I think could be problematic based on interest) at the deadline.
