Breaking News: G20 summit might stop Halladay's return to TO

TorontoStar wrote:An announcement from the Jays and Major League Baseball was expected later today on moving the series to Philadelphia.

While the Blue Jays are not making an immediate comment, Katy Feeney, MLB’s director of scheduling and club relations, said the teams and security officials with the summit have been discussing the logistics of playing the three game series June 25-27 while Toronto is hosting the summit.

This would suck.

i remember this posted a couple months ago actually.... the leaders of the world were responsible behind haladay leaving the jays and they are doing everything they can to stop him from coming here because halladay is actually an alien(there maybe some problems with the story but, let conspiracy theories begin :)

As per Bastian...

It's official, MLB relocates Blue Jays June 25-27 series against the Phillies to Philadelphia due to G20 summit. More on mlb.com soon.

Wow. I wonder if they'll play the games with American League rules. This is really depressing.

Yeah that really sucks and is very unfortunate that we won't be able to see the Doc pitch.

The game will be played with American League rules, so there will be a DH spot and we'll still technically be considered the home team and bat last.

But the Beancounters at Rogers won't lose. they will collect the lion's share of the revenues.

Jays are also likely sweating the loss in ticket sales.

The Halladay game would of sold out.

The only thing that sort of mitigates the badness of this is the fact that the G20 summit will bring a lot of money and media attention to the city of Toronto.

This organization under Rogers cares more about the bottom line than competitiveness on the field and actions like this show you exactly why that is.

Would have sold out. And the Jays, I would assume, are making off quite well financially in this deal.

You must not like baseball as much as I do.

I'll support the Jays even if they are run by a bunch of profit-driven buffoons, I can't help it.

I want to thank Harper and the government for insisting that the G 20 summit be held in the downtown core. Great decision.

And those of you bitching about Rogers are way off base. They could have easily asked fans to suck it up and experience hassles to come to the games. But theyre losing out on revenue and attention because they dont want fans to be inconvenienced.

Am I the only one that is happy that the G-20 summit is in Toronto? I know it's such an inconvenience to sports fans, businesses in the area, and Torontonians in general (increased security, traffic rerouting, riots against G-20, etc...). But as an economics graduate, it's such an important summit, because the world economy is still repairing itself from the global financial meltdown and it seems like we are on the path to prosperity again. We need international consensus on the path that we are to take so that we can maximize global efficiency and market growth for the next portion of the business cycle.

Besides, what did Halladay do for us anyway? I'm kidding!
