Great locker room guy. Classy move.

Not a bad move, but whats the point of this? I'm guessing depth/lockerroom, but I just don't see the point.

We now have the follwoing D-linemen on the team.

DE- Kyle Vanden Bosch
DE- Cliff Avril
DE- Jason Hunter
DE- Bryan Copeland
DE- Turk McBride
DE- Jared DeVries
DT- Corey Williams
DT- Sammie Lee Hill
DT- Terrence Taylor
DT- Landon Cohen
DT- Joe Cohen
DT- Andre Fluellen

Did we really need to sign DeVries to be the 6th DE on the team? We basically have 3 good DEs and 2 good DTs. If we draft Suh at #2, we'll have 3 solid players at each position. The rest of these guys are crap. And even then, I don't think DeVries was needed. He hasn't been healthy or decent for awhile now.

Agreed...

Assuming we draft Suh at #2,it looks likely that DeVries and one of the Cohen's (and possibly Taylor as well) are cut before the season starts....

Lito Sheppard is supposedly coming in for a workout. A friend e-mailed me but didn't provide a link. He's not one to gossip though so I trust his word. When I find a link, I'll post it.

So Ernie is gone and JP could be next. Who are some big LBs the Lions should look into?

Rocky McIntosh. We need to trade for him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Keith Brooking in Detroit either.

Lions claim guard Canfield off waivers

Post#248 » by kellmellus50 » Tue Apr 20, 2010 11:05 pm

Canfield, a 6-foot-5, 307-pounder, is supposed to be a good fit for the Lions’ power-blocking scheme. But he has not played a regular-season NFL game.

Arizona drafted Canfield in the seventh round last year out of Cincinnati. He signed with Seattle in late December. Chicago also put in a waiver claim for him, nationalfootballpost.com reported.

The Lions also confirmed that restricted free agent safety Daniel Bullocks has signed his tender offer and tight end Michael Matthews has been released.

It'll be interesting to see what Mayhew does with all these mediocre safeties.

Canfield is okay, he probably won't do much here. But he could add depth to our roster.

thread resurrected from the dead....

Welcome our new starting SS (maybe?), CC Brown! 69 tackles last year, 27 years old, certainly cant hurt to have more safety help. He cant be any worse than Ko Simpson

TBH, I don't know much about him. From what some Giants fans have said, he's awful.

I'm hoping O.J. becomes a unrestricted FA June 1st and Mayhew heavily pursues him. He grew up a Lions fan and this would kinda be a home coming for him since he was born and raised in Ontario.

The Lions cut some practice sqaud WR (Kole Heckendorf) that i've never heard of in favor of some "veteran TE" John Masden who is young and fairly big. http://www.detnews.com/article/20100511 ... ohn-Madsen

It's all just training camp fodder at this point unless some big name appears.

Madsen might stick as the #3 TE. Good special teams player and he can long snap. He had a couple of real nice games in the UFL. He ideally needs someone above him to get hurt though.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game
