???

Malone is still better than KG imo. KG didn't win his ring as the best player.

Garnett finished top 3 in MVP voting and had a PER of 23 in the playoffs that year.

Garnett anchored the 08 defense and still provided a lot on the glass and inside. He was THE piece for the 08 Celts

I've never thought that Duncan and KG play the same position, so I don't think there is an easy way to compare them. Duncan has been the best center in the NBA over the past 13 years or so IMO (yes, I think he was better than Shaq overall). I think KG has been the best PF over that span of time

Realistically I, along with many others have Garnett at the number 2 all time Power Forward spot.. and a ring now wont be enough to change that..

But for those still with him down the rankings, to think that him getting a second ring while contributing something like 18/8 doesnt put him over Malone and Barkley I dont get.. what has he not done that they did? Malones longevity and scoring, Barkleys Offense?

This would be an MVP, Defensive player of the year, countless all star, all nba and all defensive team.. as well as 2 rings

Hell if Garnett plays up to an 18-19 point / 10 rebound level and guys like Rondo, Ray and Pierce fire once every second game.. he could end up with a finals MVP

a potential 3peat

KG was the anchor of the best team since the 3-peat lakeshow etc.

Tim Duncan and San Antonio say hi?

I think the argument is while San Antonio maintained their level of excellence for a longer period of time, the 08 Celtics that won 66 games and the finals was a better team than any individual Spurs title winning team. It's a fair argument. Then again, there's something to be said for SA doing it in a ridiculous Western conference as many times as they did. Tough call here.

I disagree. While he wasn't exactly Prime MJ or Arron Afflalo, I think KG was the best player on that team. I agree that it doesn't necessarily make him better than Malone.

Another ring makes no difference. In fact, championships neither validate nor does a lack thereof diminish any player's career. Such talk is hogwash; a championship is a team accomplishment in a team sport. Garnett's an all-time great player and a legitimate HOF (whatever that means) player as things stand.
