Sign and trade for Lebron James!

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Wed May 12, 2010 11:03 am

once Cleveland is officially bounced from the second round, Lebron will leave Ohio.

Lebron James for Marvin Williams and filler (Bibby or Zaza) and draft picks.

Horford/Smoove/Evans/Lebron/Crawford

sign Flip Murry

this is kind of like the Orlando/Grant Hill trade or Orlando/TMac trade, where the Cavs try to get 10 cents out of a dollar instead of leaving empty handed.

Atlanta is not NY or LA, but is a big enough stage for Lebron to get national attention like what Vick did.

Lebron could just opt to go straight to the Knicks or Nets, but would still be a few years away for either team to build a championship team, while the above team could easily win a championship next year, and would finally give Stern his Lebron/Kobe Finals in 2011.

even if the idea is too lofty, just make the phone call and make it an option for the Cavs.

Cleveland would be presented with much better offers. I expect the ownership to cut payroll if they moved Lebron James because the only reason it's high now is to satisfy Lebron James.

The following teams have the players and future pick(s) to make a package out of.

Houston:
• Houston has the right to swap 2011 first round picks (top-1 protected) with New York
• New York's 2012 first round pick (top-5 protected)
Trevor Ariza
Kevin Martin
Chase Budinger
Jordan Hill

Chicago:
Luol Deng
Taj Gibson
Derrick Rose
Joakim Noah

Miami:
• Miami receives Toronto's 2010 first-round pick (top-14 protected through 2014)
Michael Beasley

New York:
Danilo Gallinari
#1 on Lebron's list?

Dallas:
Rodrigue Beaubois
Caron Butler
Eric Dampier
Shawn Marion
Team Lebron up with Dirk Nowitzki

LA Clippers:
• Minnesota's first round pick (top-10 protected through 2011, unprotected 2012)
Eric Gordon
Blake Griffin
Chris Kaman

their is your biggest mistake..... it is not Cleveland's choice, it is Lebron's choice, he is unrestricted so he will make the final decision.

Why would Lebron want to go to the Clippers or Rockets?

here are the major market teams:
Boston
New Jersey
New York
Philadelphia
Chicago
Atlanta
Miami
Washington
Dallas
Houston
Golden State
Lakers

here are the major market teams that are also legit contenders if Lebron joins:
Boston
Atlanta
Dallas
Lakers

here are the major market teams that are legit contenders that Lebron would actually join:
Atlanta
Dallas

here is the major market team that is a contender that has the cap situation to make such a trade:
Atlanta

Houston < Atlanta - Hawks have more talent
Chicago < Atlanta - Hawks have more talent and Lebron has a bad history with Chicago
Miami < Atlanta - Birds have more talent n i think Lebron doesnt want to share d ball with Wade
New York < Atlanta - couldn't win a championship in 2011 with Lebron
Dallas < Atlanta - no young talent, just a bunch of old players with bad contracts
Clippers < Atlanta - Clippers are never going to build a championship team even with Lebron.

New York and Chicago would definitely be "major contenders" if Lebron joined them. New York has enough caproom to sign Lebron and Bosh,Boozer,or Amare.

^ a Lebron less Cavs would be the same as the Bulls now, but with no three pt shooting.

although novice might think you can just put Lebron and Bosh together and get an instant championship, Knicks will still lack interior defense and 3pt shooting (which is something Lebron needs, espeically 3pt shooting from his teammates). it will still take the Knicks, Lebron and Bosh a year or two to get the right pieces to build a championship team.

You are also ignoring the fact that Cleveland would NEVER help facilitate a trade where all they got back was 2 bad contracts in Bibby and Marvin.

^ you mean like what happen in the Orlando/Tmac trade, or both Vince Carter trades, or Charles Barkley trade, or Suns/Joe Johnson trade?!...... happens all the time in the NBA.

Lebron picking the coach would be irrelevant. Every team with capspace that's going after Lebron would give him the option to fire their current coach if it meant that he'd sign with them.

Only one of those was a sign and trade and that was Joe to Phoenix(which they got back 2 draft picks for). Those 2 picks would have ended up being Rondo and Horford if not for good luck on our side.

^ so let me just get this straight, if Cleveland and Lebron accepted a deal for Marvin, Zaza and two pick (lets say they are unprotected) for Lebron...... you, HoopsGuru, would actually turn it down?!?!

Marvin and Zaza for Lebron would cost the Cavs more money than if they just let him walk for free. I don't see why it's so hard for you to understand that.

I don't know which is funnier-the idea that Atlanta would be Lebron's 1st choice or that Cleveland would view a 10 and 5 SF and a 4 and 4 backup center as great way to spend $12 million a year.

^ because a team like Cleveland is not going to be able to get a top free agent. that is what teams do, they build their team through the draft and with young players. they will get draft picks and a young 24yr player in Marvin and Zaza (26yr), and they can still tank to get a high pick next year. why can't you understand that? do you even know how the NBA works.

Atlanta Sends: Josh Smith / Marvin Williams / 2 1sts
Atlanta Receives: S&T Lebron James

Resign Joe to play along Lebron.
Resign Childress for MLE / Trade Childress' rights for a 7 foot Center.

Bibby / Teague
JJ / Crawford
James / Childress
Horford
FA / Zaza

Isn't it beautiful!!!

A team whose tanking and trying to build through the draft should not spend $12 million on a 10 and 5 SF or a 4 and 4 backup center.

It would never happen but it's way more realistic. Cleveland is not going to sign and trade Lebron unless they get something of actual value back.

Obviously Lebron has the final say and Cleveland would have to work with him or not at all. I think Lebron would prefer to stay in the East, but my point was that other teams have more to offer, so if Lebron is open to playing for those West teams we won't be able to contend with their offers.

Every team I mentioned would be an instant contender with Lebron James except for New York and Miami unless they sign quality talent to play with him.

Leaving the Clippers off your list of major markets?

If Lebron is willing to play for Dallas why would he not be open to playing for Houston? Houston won 42 games and Yao Ming sat out the entire season. They have plenty of talent on the team and the assists they can trade to improve the team. I've said Houston will S&T for Chris Bosh since the trade deadline, so I still believe that's going to be direction the team goes.

All of the teams except for us have ownerships that have consistently been willing to add payroll. Our team still has many areas that need to be improved and Lebron probably realizes that. I think Atlanta would be near the bottom of his list among the playoff contenders.

Houston has just as much talent and probably more.

Chicago has just as much talent, a star point guard, and a future All-Star at the 5.

The Clippers are never going to build championship team even with Lebron James? Chris Kaman, Blake Griffin, Lebron James, Eric Gordon, Baron Davis looks like a good start to me.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
