Summer State of Mind
I don't know if anybody has been to the Wolves website lately but there is a nice video and article on the young guy's plans to improve this summer. It's nice to see they really want to improve. One thing we can't fault is the effort. Keep up the good work fellas!

Re: Summer State of Mind
Thank you for that.
The write up on the bottom was nice too.
Brewer==ball handling could be the difference between a legit starter and a 20min hustle bench player.
Ellington==Not sure what specifically I would like to see other than defense against quicker players.
Love==big summer for him. His defensive rotations are going to be key if he wants to be a starter. Also, he needs to use his fakes to get to the line more. How did his block rate change throughout the year? (him blocking and him being blocked). His 35 ft/fg is very good. (Josh Smith 26, Lebron 39, Howard 58, Wade 35, Kobe 28) He needs to use this talent more often.
Flynn==watch film please. Mental mistakes and over dribbles were his weak spot.

Re: Summer State of Mind
Flynn-- Pick and Roll defense
Ellington -- Pick and Roll defense, dribbling, develop a pull up jumper?
Brewer -- continue working on shot, pull up jumper, dribbling
Love -- needs to improve his post game, and develop some quick go to moves; would like to see him watch a lot of film

Re: Summer State of Mind
Love -- I want to see him drop 20lbs and watch film of Tom Gugliotta. He's not going to be KG, Duncan, Dirk or even Boozer. Googs had a nice inside outside game with pretty simple post moves and a good 15-20fter AND was a decent defender.
Sessions -- needs to try to develop some kind of outside game, at least a reasonable range.

Re: Summer State of Mind
Brewer: Ballhandling, gaining weight.
Darko: Drills where he gets the ball in the post and goes up strong every time, for like 3 hours a day.
Flynn: Watch film of the top PGs, man defense.
Love: Drop more weight, develop a go-to post move.
Hollins: Get convicted in a porn ring conspiracy so that the Wolves can void his contract.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Re: Summer State of Mind
Hitting the weight room and improving agility are key areas we need to address as a team. Hopefully we can utilize the draft to add some speed. Defensively, we are a mess and there was very little improvement shown throughout the season.
It always comes down to players ... we need to upgrade our roster and success in the draft is crucial for this franchise.

I had a dream about Cardinal's mugshot on the news being indicted on the states largest clown porn ring, his hair was all wild sprayed pink and he had old smudged clown paint on his face, I can't look at him without laughing anymore

Chris Bosh - He's a little bit turnover prone. Needs to really bulk up so he won't get abused by bigger guys. I think if he developed a reliable 3 point shot would be virtually unguardable. He really needs to become a better shooter off the dribble.
Wait, what are talking about?

not sure... I was talking about Cardinal probably being into some kinda freaky stuff so you really aren't off base. (I'm really ok with pretty much any kind of fetish there is except bodily functions and clowns... just F'ing creepy)

Seems about right. I would add that Flynn needs to work on his outside shot as well. Especially if we draft a guy like Turner and run with a Flynn-Turner-Brewer line-up.
I think we'll see a much improved team next season.

Brewer is already a decent passer, now imagine if he could improve his handles, drive and dish.... that would be awesome.

I'd like to see everybody improve conditioning from top to bottom. Just having the energy to play 4 quarters of honest defense would make a world of difference

I would have been much more interested to check out what the FrontOffice 'Summer State of Mind' is. What do they need to improve? How about Rambis?

That's what we said last season.

As a team, they have to learn how to close out games, and hold a lead. Fairly obvious, and a lot of young teams do it, but the amount of times they went into half-time with a lead and completely faded in the second half is ridiculous.

Really? I remember quite a few people thinking we'd be just as bad as the previous year, and a few thought we would be worse.
As for next year, I think we could be much improved, but ask me after the draft, and again after free agency.

A lot of people were predicting 25+ wins, even 30+ for this season.

Re: Summer State of Mind
I still think our team is much more talented then the previous one. On paper, but the growing pains are lasting longer. Jefferson needed to recover, Love was battling injuries and Flynn took his rookie lumps, but I think on paper we are a better team. Brewer's improvement, Flynn over Bassy, the addition of positive role players in Sessions and Darko and the improvement of the coaching staff and implication of the system. We liquefied and invested numerous assets that will come to fruition this summer.

Does anyone else follow Flynn's twitter feed? Seems like all he's been doing all summer is sitting around watching movies. Get in the gym Johnny!
